Intel CEO Paul Otellini revealed that the new 64-bit Dual Core mobile processor from Intel called Merom will ship in August. Merom release will coincide with manufacturers doing a laptop refresh.

The Lenovo 3000 V100 is an ultraportable that’s part of the Lenovo 3000 series the company launched this year. The V100 will join the Lenovo C100 15.4″ screen notebook and Lenovo N100 14.1″ notebook to round out the series offering. The V100 is targeted at small business users and regular old consumers. Apple unveiled the newly designed MacBook featuring the Intel Core Duo processor and a new 13-inch widescreen display. With prices starting at $1,099, the MacBook lineup includes three models: a 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz MacBook in a newly designed white enclosure and a 2.0 GHz MacBook in a new black enclosure. The new MacBook also offers completely new system architecture including a 667 MHz front-side bus and 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory expandable to 2GB. Every MacBook comes with the latest release of the operating system Mac OS X version 10.4.6 Tiger.

Alienware unveiled two new SLI-enabled gaming laptops today, one 19-incher with a slick color-shifting paint job, and another that may be the first 17-inch notebook on the market with two graphics cards. As far as features go, both machines sport almost identical specs to the other SLI models we’ve seen: XP-powered AMD Turion 64 processor, two 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX cards, anywhere from 512MB to 2GB of RAM, WiFi (Bluetooth optional), 4-in-1 card reader, and your choice of hard and optical drives. Available for preorder immediately, the 19-inch Alienware Aurora mALX starts at $4,500 ($500 less than Voodoo’s similar Envy u:909) while the 17-inch Alienware Aurora m9700 (pictured after the break) goes for $2,000 and up.

HP today announced five new notebooks in its business notebook portfolio: the HP Compaq nc2400, HP Compaq tc4400 / nc4400, HP Compaq nc6400, HP Compaq nx7400 and HP Compaq 8400 notebooks. The nc2400 is the company’s thinnest and lightest notebook with an optical drive to date.

Asus and Airgo Networks, Inc announced this week the Asus A6T notebook, featuring built-in WiFi that is claimed to have faster-than-Ethernet networking speeds thanks to an embedded 240Mbps WiFi adapter. The Asus A6T will have AMD Turion X2 Mobile Technology. The adapter incorporates True MIMO Gen3 technology by Asus, and demonstrates that Airgo’s technology is being adpoted by the PC OEM market.
