PQI Announced 256GB Solid State Drive

PQI 256GB SSD Turbo+Power Quotient International (PQI) has announced the 2.5-inch 256GB SSD Turbo+ solid state drive, which is the product with the largest storage capacity in this class.

The PQI 256GB SSD Turbo+ has Serial ATA interface and data transfer rates of up to 60MB/sec. It can be a replacement for a standard notebook hard drive, offering shock resistance, high stability and low power consumption. The SSDs also have longer average data storage time of 10 years and faster seek times compared to traditional hard drive read / write heads, according to PQI.

Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet PCLenovo has unveiled ThinkPad X61 Tablet PC and ThinkPad X61 ultra-portable notebook, both expected to become available in June. The 12.1-inch screen X61 series tablets and small laptops are based on Intel Centrino Duo “Santa Rosa” platform.

Lenovo ThinkPad X61 mobile computers are built upon Intel GM965 Express Chipset with integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, and are offered with up to 2GB of DDR2 system memory (expandable to 4GB) and up to 160GB hard drives.

Lenovo ThinkPad X61sLenovo has unveiled the details of its thin and light ultra-portable ThinkPad X61s notebook, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform and Intel’s low-voltage Core 2 Duo processor.

Lenovo ThinkPad X61s (slim), which comes with Core 2 Duo L7300 or L7500, is thinner and lighter version of the ThinkPad X61, powered by “full-voltage” T7100, T7300, and T7500. Both notebooks are built upon “Santa Rosa’s” Mobile Intel GM965 Express chipset. The integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 manages notebook’s 12-inch XGA (non-widescreen) display with 1024-by-768 resolution. The X61s supports up to 4GB of DDR2 main memory and comes with up to 160GB SATA hard drive, while for enhanced hard drive performance, the X61s incorporates Intel Turbo memory 1 GB card. For an additional $100 you can purchase the ThinkPad X6 UltraBase docking station with an optical drive.

Palm Foleo Mobile Companion Announced

Palm Foleo Mobile CompanionPalm, Inc. today unveiled laptop-like device called Foleo, which is the Company’s first product in new “mobile companions” class.

Designed primarily as a companion to a mobile phone, the 2.5-pound Palm Foleo features 10-inch screen with 1024×600 resolution, as well as full-size QWERTY keyboard. The Foleo has a USB port, video-out port, headphone jack, and slots for SD and compact flash cards for memory expansion, but there is no information on its processor, system memory and data storage capacity.

Fujitsu Fab PC Concept Features Flexible Display, Fabric Case

Fujitsu Fab PCFujitsu has unveiled its Fab PC notebook concept, which features a flexible display and uses fabric in its construction.

“The use of fabric also lends itself perfectly to the other innovative feature of the Fab PC: a flexible e-paper display. Whereas all other notebooks feature a display screen which is mounted via hinges to the main system unit/keyboard, the Fab PCs screen swoops down into the base of the device and then folds over on top of the keyboard when not in use,” DalyTech’s report says.

Lenovo 3000 V200 “Santa Rosa” Ultra-Portable Now Available

Lenovo 3000 V100/V200PC maker Lenovo has updated its ultra-portable notebook lineup with the new 12.1-inch widescreen 3000 V200 model, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform.

Starting at $1,199, Lenovo’s 3000 V200 is offered with Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 or T7300 processor with 1.8GHz and 2GHz clock speed respectively. These CPUs have “Santa Rosa’s” 800MHz front side bus, and are paired with Intel GM965 chipset. The GM965 features integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which manages the 1280×800 display. The V200 small laptop comes with 1GB or 2GB of system memory, a 160GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive and DVD burner.

Toshiba’s AMD-Powered Notebooks Coming This Summer

AMD-Powered Toshiba LaptopToshiba Corporation announced today it will put AMD processors in about 20 percent of the notebooks it sells in the United States and Europe. The laptop PC maker plans to use AMD chips in moderate-priced standard models for individual and corporate clients, Reuters reports.

The first AMD-powered notebooks from Toshiba will be released this summer reportedly.

Current Dell XPS M1210The refreshed Dell XPS M1210 ultra-portable notebook with the Intel’s new laptop platform, code-named “Santa Rosa”, will be launched on June 26, according to rumor published on Gizmodo.

Along with 12-inch LED backlight screen, the “Santa Rosa”, and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 800MHz front side bus instead of an old 667MHz FSB, Dell’s XPS M1210 has Nvidia GeForce 8400M dedicated graphics and a slot-loading DVD drive.

Intel’s Metro Notebook Concept: Video Published

Intel Metro NotebookThe AeroXperience website has published a video of the Intel’s Metro Notebook concept, introduced in April at Intel Developer Forum in Beijing.

The Metro laptop prototype is only 0.7-inch thick and weighs 2.2 pounds. This notebook concept features a secondary “Eink” display for reading email, calendar entries, eBooks, etc. The video shows you can also use Windows Media Player or play games via Eink.

Apple Released Security Update 2007-005 for Mac OS X

Mac OS X Apple has released Security Update 2007-005 for its Mac OS X to fix a number of vulnerabilities in this operating system.

The most serious flaws patched with Update include the CoreGraphics and iChat vulnerabilities, enabling malicious code execution. Other programs fixed by the latest update are Alias Manager, BIND, crontabs, Fetchmail, file, mDNSResponder, PPP, Ruby, GNU Screen, Texinfo and VPN.

Dell Inspiron E1505 N consumer laptop starts at $599. It is $100 cheaper than its E1505 sibling with Microsoft’s Windows Vista Home Basic preloaded. When compared to the same E1505 with Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Ultimate, the Ubuntu-powered E1505 N is cheaper for $129, $199, and $299, respectively.

Asus G2S-A1Asus G2S-A1, the 17-inch gaming notebook, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” platform and nVidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics unit, is now available for pre-order at EXcaliberPC, as same as the similar 15.4-inch G1S-A1.

The offered G2S-A1 configuration, priced at $2,099, includes Intel PM965 chipset and the new Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7500 at 2.2GHz. The laptop’s 17-inch widescreen 1920×1200 glossy display is managed by GeForce 8600M GT dedicated graphics card with 256MB of VRAM, supporting up to 512MB using shared system memory. The nVidia’s 8600M GT graphics is compatible with forthcoming DirectX 10 games and provides HDCP support. “The website (Lapjacks.com) allows customers to choose from thousands of high quality images, upload their own digital photographs or even create an original design and submit it for production. The designs are then printed onto a high quality adhesive vinyl cover that is engineered to fit the exact dimensions of the laptop”.
