Lenovo IdeaPad U330The Lenovo IdeaPad U330 is a recently announced 13.3-inch consumer notebook, that features Intel Centrino 2 technology with switchable graphics.

The ultraporable, which weighs “just over 4 pounds”, comes with the Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 processor at 2GHz, 2GB or 3GB of DDR3 system memory, up to 320GB of hard drive storage, and a built in DVD burner. Users are enabled to switch between the GMA 4500MHD integrated and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 256MB dedicated video chip dynamically, without rebooting the system. The 4500MHD is a battery saver, while the 3450 provides better graphics performance.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-42312CULenovo’s first netbook - the IdeaPad S10-42312CU model - is now available for purchase.

The 2.65-pound IdeaPad S10 features a 10.2-inch 1024×600 widescreen display with LED baclight, the Intel Atom N270 single core processor at 1.6GHz, GMA 950 integrated graphics, and Windows XP Home operating system.

Dell Precision M6400 Quad Core Laptop Launched

Dell Precision M6400Dell has launched this week their first quad-core mobile workstation - the Precision M6400.

The 17-inch laptop for engineers, designers, and multimedia content creators is configurable with the Intel Core 2 Quad QX9300 processor at 2.53GHz, NVIDIA Quadro FX 2700M 512MB graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, dual hard drives or solid state drives, providing up to 640GB and 128GB of storage in total respectively, and a DVD burner. Options for up to 16GB of RAM, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M 1GB video card, and up to 1TB of storage will be available by the end of the year.

Asus Eee PC to Get 3.75G Connectivity

Asus Eee PC 901ASUS today announced that it will be adding 3.75G mobile broadband connectivity to its Eee PC netbooks, “enabling convenient and high-speed access to the Internet anytime, anywhere”.

“With 3.75G, the Eee PC will be able to deliver on its promise of borderless one-day computing better than ever before. No longer bound to Internet hotspots, 3.75G-equipped Eee PC users will be able to enjoy low latency mobile broadband Internet access at high downlink and uplink speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and 2 Mbps respectively,” Asus says.

Dell Inspiron 14, 15 - Renamed 1420, 1525 Laptops

Dell Inspiron 15, 14 (1525, 1420)Dell has renamed select models in the Inspiron laptop lineup, giving them simpler names.

The 14.1-inch Inspiron 1420 is now Inspiron 14, while the 15.4-inch 1525 is now Inspiron 15. The Inspiron notebook series also includes a recently released 13.3-incher - the 13 - and the Mini 9. The 17-inch models are currently unavailable.

Lenovo ThinkPad X200sLenovo today launched the ThinkPad X200s Centrino 2-based 12.1-inch ultraportable laptop, “with models starting at just 2.4 pounds and with models offering maximum battery life lasting up to more than 13 hours”.

Select X200s configurations are equipped with up to 128 GB solid state drive storage, LED backlit displays, and Ultra-Wideband functionality.

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 TabletLenovo’s ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC, featuring Intel Centrino 2 technology and a 12.1-inch display with touch screen and pen input support, is now available for purchase.

According to the PC maker, there are X200 Tablet models “shedding almost 10 percent over the previous generation Tablet PC’s weight”. Additionally, the X200 convertible laptop also offers models with nearly 50 percent longer battery life.

Sony VAIO TT - World’s Lightest Blu-Ray Computer

Sony VAIO TTSony today unveiled the VAIO TT laptop, “the world’s lightest computer with Blu-ray Disc technology”.

The Sony VAIO TT Series ultraportable, that weighs 2.87 pounds and is less than 1-inch thin, has a 11.1-inch 1366 x 768 display. The screen features LED backlight and has a 16:9 aspect ratio, used in many HD movies. The Blu-Ray drive is incorporated in select models and reads and writes BD, DVD and CD discs.

HP G60 15.6″ Laptop Silently Released

HP G60Hewlett-Packard has silently released the HP G60, the company’s first laptop that features a 15.6-inch display.

A G60 model sold by Circuit City - the G60-120US - includes the AMD Turion 64 X2 RM-70 processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8200M graphics, 3GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB hard drive, and DVD burner. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

HP HDX16tHewlett-Packard is now shipping their newly designed HP HDX16t entertainment notebook PC, featuring a 16-inch display and the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

The HDX16t is configurable with 2GB or 3GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, a DVD burner or Blu-Ray Combo drive, and built-in HDTV tuner. The laptop incorporates the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512MB video card which manages the display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The system will be also configurable with a full HD 1920×1080 dual-backlight display and dual hard drives, according to the product page.

Dell Precision Quad Core LaptopDell is going to release this fall a 17-inch Precision mobile workstation that features a quad core processor and support for 16GB of system memory, according to a promotional video.

The desktop replacement laptop includes a graphics solution with 1GB of video memory and up to two hard drives providing up to 1TB of storage in total.

Sony VAIO NSThe recently announced Sony VAIO NS Series 15.4-inch consumer notebooks, based on Intel Centrino Duo Processor Technology, are now available for preorder.

The offered NS laptops at SonyStyle are preconfigured models, featuring the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 CPU at 2GHz, GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, 3GB or 4GB of DDR2 system memory, and a 250GB hard drive. Select models include a Blu-ray Combo optical drive, while the others come with a DVD burner.

Dell No. 1 Laptop Supplier in North America, HP Leads Globally

Dell LogoDell is the leading laptop supplier in North America in the second quarter of 2008 with a 21.9 percent share of notebook PC shipments, the latest report by DisplaySearch reveals.

Dell is followed by Hewlett-Packard and Acer (includes Gateway & Packard Bell) with shares of 21.4% and 14.4% respectively. Apple’s notebook sales had the most significant jump - from 6.6% in Q2 2007 to 10.6% in Q2 ‘08. Toshiba is fifth with 9.0%, while all other notebook vendors cover 22.4% of the North American market.

Dell Latitude E4200, E4300Dell’s new ultraportable business-class laptops - the Latitude E4200 and Latitude E4300 - are now available for purchase.

The E4200 features a 12.1-inch display and has a starting weight of 2.2 pounds, while the E4300 includes a 13.3″ screen and starts at 3.3 lbs. The both laptops are based on Intel GS45 Express chipset with the GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics and support for DDR3 memory. The E4200 and E4300 come with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra-Low Voltage (SU9300, SU9400) and Core 2 Duo normal voltage (SP9300, SP9400) processors respectively.
