One of the Hitachi's Travelstar HDDsThe 250GB 2.5-inch laptop hard drives spinning at 5400rpm have arrived to the market, according to the reports about these drives offered with Dell’s and Alienware’s notebook PCs.

The configuration pages of select Alienware Aurora and Dell XPS notebooks show the new hard drives use Serial ATA (SATA) interface and have 8MB of cache memory.

Currently, it is not known which manufacturer supplied Dell and Alienware with these HDDs. Hitachi announced last year the availability of Travelstar 250GB 5400rpm laptop hard disks for the second half of 2007.

There are notebook hard drives with even larger capacities, such as Fujitsu’s 300GB MHX2300BT, but their rotational speed is only 4200rpm.
