CompAmerica today announced the Orca Extreme 9191 notebook PC, which is claimed to be “the most powerful laptop on earth.” The new 17-inch widescreen mobile workstation is powered by desktop-use Intel Core 2 Duo/Extreme processor and features dual graphics, as well as up to three hard drive units.
Orca Extreme 9191 can be configured with Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to E6700 at 2.66Ghz clock speed or with Core 2 Extreme processor X6800 at 2.93Ghz. The notebook comes with up to two NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950GT series video cards providing 1GB of video RAM (2 x 512MB). There are 1920 x 1200 WUXGA or 1680 x 1050 WSXGA+ screen resolution options. CompAmerica’s Orca Extreme supports up to 4GB of DDR2 677MHz memory and features 200GB SATA hard drive with optional secondary and third HDDs, as well as double layer DVD±R/RW burner.
Regarding connectivity features, Orca Extreme provides integrated 108Mbps wireless 802.11b/g LAN, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet and a 56k modem.
There are also an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, an optional TV tuner, four built-in Hi-Fi speakers, ExpressCard slot, four USB ports, DVI, VGA and TV-Out ports, FireWire port and 4-in-1 media card reader.
This mobile workstation, which can be also used for gaming, weighs 11.8lbs and incorporates full size keyboard with numeric keypad.
Orca Extreme 9191 has a starting price of $2,604 and comes with Windows Vista or Windows XP pre-installed.
The similar laptop was recently announced by Eurocom. Both are most likely built upon Clevo’s D900C.
