Akihabara News and Impress reported today that Fujitsu announced two notebook computers for Japanese market featuring Intel “Santa Rosa” platform, which is scheduled for the official release next month. But, the news and the product pages do not indicate the new 15.4-inch widescreen FMV-BIBLO NF and 13.4-inch screen FMV-BIBLO MG feature “Santa Rosa”, except the 800Mhz front-side bus reported by Akihabara and Impress. It’s most likely the two new laptops are “Napa”-based since they use the current Intel’s Mobile 945 and 943 chipsets, instead of “Santa Rosa’s” 965.
Also Fujitsu’s FMV-BIBLO NF and MG come with Intel’s Core 2 Duo T7200 and T5500 processors. These CPUs use 677MHz front-side bus and are currently paired with “Napa” platform at 677MHz, incorporated in the most of notebooks available in the market. “Santa Rosa” is designed with 800MHz FSB and is planned for use with refreshed line-up of Intel Core 2 laptop processors at that FSB speed.
The new Fujitsu FMV-BIBLO laptops feature IEEE 802.11a/b/g and Windows Vista operating system. The announced laptops will be available in Japan starting on April 20th.
The first notebooks reported to incorporate “Santa Rosa” platform are Dell’s Latitude D630 and D830, as well as Vestel’s computers showcased at CeBIT Show in Hannover, Germany this March.
