Toshiba Satellite P205-S6347Toshiba has refreshed its 17-inch Satellite P205 desktop replacement PC series with a Satellite P205-S6347 model featuring the latest Intel “Santa Rosa” Centrino Duo technology and a HD DVD drive. The PC maker has also added the customizable “Santa Rosa” notebooks to the P205 lineup.

Priced at $1,449, the Toshiba Satellite P205-S6347 comes with Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB) and Intel GM965 chipset featuring Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which manages 17″ widescreen display with 1440×900 resolution. The notebook is configured with 2GB of DDR2 system memory, expandable up to 4GB, and with 200GB SATA hard disk drive at 4200rpm.

Equipped with an HD DVD-ROM, the P205-S6347 gives users the option of watching high-definition content at a resolution of 720p on notebook’s display. Its HD DVD optical drive also enables the standard CD and DVD writing. In terms of sound, the Satellite P205-S6347 is equipped with Dolby Sound Room technology and Harman/Kardon speakers. Unlike the Satellite X205 gaming notebook, the P205-S6347 has no HDMI output for high-definition multimedia playback on external HDTVs and monitors.

Regarding communications, this desktop replacement has Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (802.11a/g/n) wireless, a modem, Ethernet LAN, and web camera and microphone built into LCD bezel.

Toshiba Satellite P205-S6347 has an ExpressCard slot, four USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and a Firewire. For video output, there are S-Video and VGA ports, while for improved security there is a fingerprint reader.

This notebook starts at 8.79 pounds and features a numeric pad, besides a standard keyboard. It ships with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled.
