Affordable Acer Aspire AS3690 Offered

Acer Aspire AS3690 is offered this holiday season by TigerDirect and Wal-Mart for $500 after $100 rebate and for $548, respectively. The 15-inch 1024×768 screen laptop features Intel Celeron M420 processor at 1.6GHz, 512MB of main memory, 60GB hard drive and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive.

The offered Aspire AS3690 incorporates wireless connectivity, Ethernet LAN, 56K modem, VGA out an 5-in-1 media card reader.

TigerDirect sells AS3690 with integrated ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 1100 graphics and three USB ports, while Wal-Mart sells the same-named laptop with integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 and four USBs.

However, both Radeon Xpress 1100 and Intel GMA 900 don’t support Windows Aero feature in forthcoming Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system.

But, there is another one Acer Aspire AS3690, which has GMA 950 graphics supporting Aero and a 15.4-inch widescreen 1280 x 800 display, at NewEgg for $640.
