Acer Aspire AS5920-6661Acer Aspire AS5920-6661, the first model for the North American market in the new 5920 15.4-inch entertainment notebook PC series, is now available. It features Intel “Santa Rosa” notebook platform, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card, HD DVD drive and HDMI output and the “Gemstone” chassis design.

Acer’s AS5920-6661 is based on Intel’s “Santa Rosa” notebook platform and comes with Core 2 Duo T7300 processor at 2GHz. The system is built on PM965 Express Chipset, which is paired with GeForce 8600M GT graphics card featuring 256MB of dedicated video memory. This GPU is DirectX 10 compatible and empowers the notebook’s 15.4″ 1280-by-800 widescreen display. Besides HDMI audio/video output with HDCP support, there are VGA out, and S-video TV-out.

The AS5920-6661 ships with 2GB of DDR2 memory, which is expandable to 4GB, and 200GB hard drive. Along with high definition multimedia playback capability, the integrated HD DVD-ROM drive can also write onto standard DVD and CD media.

This entertainment laptop has Dolby-certified surround-sound system and two integrated stereo speakers accompanied by one subwoofer supporting low-frequency effects.

Regarding communications, Acer Aspire AS5920-6661 provides 802.11a/g/n wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet, 56K modem, and Bluetooth connectivity. For video conferencing, there is a built-in web camera.

In addition, the AS5920-6661 has an ExpressCard slot, four USB ports, and a 5-in-1 media card reader.

This “Gemstone”-designed Aspire notebook weighs 6.6 lbs with eight-cell battery, providing up to 3.5 hours of life.

Acer Aspire AS5920-6661 is available via the PC maker’s authorized resellers and selected retailers throughout North America for around $2000.

Why are these reported on, and then you never hear of them again? Are these still in the market and is there any way to buy it now in 2008?
