The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Acer announced a voluntary recall of about 22,000 Acer Aspire Timeline AS3410, AS3410T, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG laptops.
The USPSC says an internal microphone wire under the palm rest of the notebooks can short circuit and overheat, potentially causing burn hazard to users.
Acer has received three reports of short circuiting, resulting in slight melting of the external laptop casing. However, no injuries have been reported, as well as no incidents in the United States.
Not all of the listed Aspire notebooks are affected, so consumers should contact Acer to determine if their unit is included in the recall.
My acer laptop has also over heats and it is an aspire 4720. Its been through 2 chargers in 2 weeks, clearly this is a major malfunction…my computer could have blew up!
