Acer Extends 17-inch Laptop Line

Acer has revamped its Aspire notebook line-up with four 17in models based on 1,440 x 900 displays pitched at mainstream home and office buyers, and punters looking for a large laptop on a small budget.

The Acer Aspire 9400 and Acer Aspire 9410 sport Pentium M and Core Duo processors, respectively, with Intel 945GM and 915PM chipsets. Both use an Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 GPU with 64MB of GDDR 2 video memory, though it can take up to 192MB of system memory too. Both provide up to 120GB of hard drive storage, dual-channel DDR 2 SDRAM and multi-format DVD writers.

The higher-end model has an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam and a five-in-one memory card reader. They both have Intel-made 802.11b/g Wi-Fi adaptors, 10/100Mbps Ethernet and a 56Kbps modem. Bluetooth 2.0 is available on some models.

The Acer Aspire 7100 and Acer Aspire 7110 models are both based on Celeron M chips, Acer’s own 802.11b/g Wi-Fi card, Ethernet and, on selected models, Bluetooth 2.0. The 7110 has a VGA webcam built in. They can be configured with up to 120GB of hard drive storage, and ship with multi-format DVD writers.
