AcerAcer plans to launch low-cost laptop computers with 8- and 9-inch displays late in the first quarter or early second quarter of this year, a Chinese Commercial Times’ report says.

These budget notebooks are aimed at competing directly at similar sized Asus Eee PCs from Asustek Computer. Prices of Acer’s ultraportables will be as competitive as those of the Eee PCs, the paper said.

There is no information on hardware and software specifications of the upcoming low-cost systems from Acer.
