Acer has published the details of its TravelMate 6292 ultra-portable notebook, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” platform.
Acer TravelMate 6292 features the new ProFile design, a 12-inch widescreen display with 1280×800 resolution and Mobile Intel GM965 Express chipset supporting the latest Intel Core 2 Duo T7100/T7300/T7500/T7700 processors. The GM965 incorporates the integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and provides support for up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory. This ultra-portable system comes with up to 200GB Serial ATA hard drive and a DVD burner.
The 6292 has Intel’s Next-Gen Wireless-N network connection, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and a 56K data/fax modem. The other communication features of this notebook include a built-in web camera for video conferencing and the optional Acer Bluetooth VoIP Phone.
The TravelMate 6292 provides three USB ports, Type II PC Card slot, a 5-in-1 media card reader, VGA and S-Video outputs, and Firewire port.
This small laptop weighs 4.38lbs with 6-cell battery pack and 3.96lbs with weight saver module.
Acer TravelMate 6292 comes with Windows Vista or Windows XP Professional pre-installed.
Currently, there is no information on its availability in the United States, but we expect it to arrive soon, since it is already available in some European online stores. The 6292 configuration with T7300 processor at 2GHz, 2GB of RAM and 80GB hard drive costs €1,554 (approximately $2,087) in Europe.
