Alienware Area-51 m9750Alienware announced today the refreshed Area-51 m9750 gaming and multimedia notebook, which is now claimed to be the World’s first 17-inch laptop to fuse dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics cards and Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Along with Core 2 Duo Mobile “Merom” processor and 945PM chipset, the Intel “Napa” platform-based Alienware Area-51 m9750 features single NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB GDDR3 graphics card or two of them paired using NVIDIA SLI technology. These graphics solutions empower the notebook’s 17-inch widescreen display with 1920×1200 or optional 1440×900 resolution.

The Area-51 m9750 supports up to 4GB DDR2 memory at 667MHz. For storing large amounts of data, there are up to two hard drives providing a total of 500GB storage capacity. A pair of HDDs in the m9750 can be used in RAID0 and RAID1 modes. Alienware Area-51 m9750 has Combo drive, DVD burner and Blu Ray disc drive options. The Blu Ray and the notebook’s NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology enable the high definition multimedia content playback with a claimed six times better video quality than in standard DVD.

Alienware’s m9750 high-performance mobile computer has 7.1 digital high-definition audio, built-in two speakers and subwoofer, a 1.3 megapixel camera, as well as an optional coaxial TV tuner.

Regarding communications, there are 802.11a/b/g and optional 802.11n draft wireless standards supported. This notebook also has Gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, and a Bluetooth.

Alienware Area-51 m9750 incorporates VGA, DVI-D and S-Video out connectors. The laptop also features S-Video In connector, so it can be used as a digital video editing machine. It features ExpressCard slot, four USB ports, Firewire port, and a 4-in-1 media card reader.

The whole system weigh starting at 8.5 lbs and comes with Windows Vista or Windows XP.

Alienware Area-51 m9750 basic configuration with single graphic card is priced at $2,099, while the system with dual GeForce Go 7950 GTX cards starts at $2,699.
