Alienware M14x R2 Gaming Laptop with Intel Ivy Bridge Spotted

Alienware M14x R2 on Dell Denmark
The Alienware M14x R2 with Ivy Bridge, listed on Dell Denmark.
We spotted today the Alienware M14x R2 14″ gaming notebook with the 3rd Generation Intel Core “Ivy Bridge” processors on Dell’s website for Denmark. The M14x R2, which was officially announced last week with the 2nd-gen Intel Core “Sandy Brdige” CPUs and the new Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics, is listed with the Intel Core i7-3610QM, i7-3720QM, and i7-3820QM “Ivy Bridge” parts in a specs comparison chart. However, the purchase page provides “Sandy Bridge” choices only.

The R2 version ships with the GeForce GT 650M in 1GB or 2GB GDDR5 video memory, up to 16GB of DDR3 1,600MHz RAM, up to 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD storage, and a DVD burner or Blu-ray combo.

Alienware’s new 14-incher, like the previous model, provides 1366×768 and 1600×900 display choices and a built-in 2.1 sound system with subwoofer, as well as multi-color keyboard backlight and black and red color options.

Other notable features are the gaming-class Killer 1202 Wi-Fi card option and a 1.3MP web camera, while selection of ports and slots remained the same – 2 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0, Mini-Display, HDMI, and VGA video outputs, and a 9-in-1 media card reader.

Pricing and availability of the Ivy Bridge-based Alienware M14x R2 is unknown at the time of this writing.

Correction: We had a typo in the post. The GPU is the GT 650M, not GTX 650M. Thanks Jimmy Chen for pointing this out.

  1. wow this article is complete bullshit. I ordered the M14x R2 two days ago. Ivy Bridge processors are NOT an option, Dell had officially announced this. Also the graphics card is a 1GB or 2GB GT650m NOT GTX, that’s a huge difference. Pricing was also made available 4/21/2012, you wouldve known that had you simply gone to the alienware website to select a mode/price build.

    • Thanks for noticing our mistake regarding the GPU. Regarding CPUs, the post above is about the spotted M14 R2 with Ivy Bridge CPUs on Dell Denmark and there is no info on pricing for the Ivy-based configurations. The available pricing is for the notebook with the Sandy Bridge CPUs only.
