As a teacher who has been using the Alphasmart products,2000, 3000, and now neo, over 10 years, this is a great tool for elementary or middle school aged students to use for composing, taking notes, learning keyboarding, creating group stories, or taking a teacher created test. It is well made, quite indestructible, and fun for the kids. It does not allow web surfing or instant messaging which cuts down on distractions and keeps you on task. It has spell check and can beam your work to a teacher or a printer instantly. I find it to be an awesome tool!
