In 2009, AMD will release the “Shrike” notebook platform featuring Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), which combines general-use CPU cores with specialized accelerator cores on a single silicon die, according to the company’s Notebook Platform Roadmap 2008/2009.
The first APU for laptops, codenamed “Swift”, will consist of AMD “Stars” CPU cores and a graphics processing unit core. The “Swift” chips will be produced using 45 nanometer technology and will be paired with DDR3 system memory in the “Shrike” platform.

The platform will support 802.11 a/b/g/n, 3G, DASH, and UWB connectivity.
AMD’s laptop roadmap also confirms the release of the “Puma” platform with “Griffin” processor next year.
