After the recent Intel’s Core 2 Duo Merom processor debut, AMD Turion 64 X2 laptop processors still have pricing, as same sufficient performance, to compete in the 64-bit dual-core notebook market, Digi Times reported.
According to product portfolios offered by laptop vendors, the price of AMD Turion 64 X2-based laptop is about US$150 less than an Intel Core 2 Duo powered notebook. For example, HP offers Pavilion dv6000z, featuring AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 CPU (1.80GHz, 2 x 512KB cache, 1600MHz FSB), at a price tag of US$898. The suggested price is US$156 cheaper than an HP Pavilion dv6000t, based on Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (1.83GHz, 2MB cache, 667MHz FSB).
Despite a higher price than AMD processors, the average selling price for Intel’s Core 2 Duo notebooks is already much lower than previous 32-bit Core Duo models, which were priced at more than US$1,500 per unit in the beginning, Digi Times reported.
