Sources in Apple’s manufacturing facilities have confirmed that the company will launch its rumored ultraportable notebook at Macworld Expo and Conference in January 2008, CNBC’s Jim Goldman reported today.
The sub-notebook will cost $1,500 and will be 50 percent thinner than the company’s existing MacBook Pro reportedly. It will feature a Flash memory-based solid state drive, instead of a standard HDD. Goldman said the laptop will have a 12-inch screen, but AppleInsider still maintains that it will include a 13.3-inch display.
According to the captions on CNBC accompanying Goldman’s commentary, the production of the notebook had already begun.
The earlier reports say the Apple’s upcoming laptop will have a LED backlight display, but it will not include a built-in optical drive.
