Asus Eee PC with Windows XP Now Available in U.S.


Asus EEE PC 700, 701 WhiteThe Asus Eee PC model 4G with Windows XP operating system preinstalled is now available in the United States.

Asustek’s low-cost 7-inch ultraportable laptop with XP is in stock at Best Buy and costs $399. It can be purchased online only. The Eee PC with Microsoft’s operating system is available in white (EEEPC4G-W010X) and black (EEEPC4G-BK010X) color.

These mini-notebooks include an Intel Celeron M processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of Flash memory-based storage, and a built-in web camera.

The Eee PC 4G with Linux OS also costs $399 at BestBuy.

    Ha, ha. That means that MS is not making money on it. They are subsidizing this purely as a defensive move against Linux. It won’t do any good. You can’t patch a cracking dam with a finger. It is just going to keep getting harder and harder for MS to contain Linux adoption.
