Asus F2 Laptop Series to Be Powered by Merom CPUs

Asustek Computer (ASUS) today launched 15-inch screen F2 laptop series, featuring the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile (Merom) processor. Asus F2 notebook incorporates Mobile Intel 945GM of 940GML Express Chipset in F2F and F2HF models, and a Mobile Intel 945PM Express Chipset in F2J and F2JE models. The F2’s graphics is powered by ATI Mobility Radeon X1400/1450 DDRII 128MB and 512MB cards. It can be configured with 80GB, 100GB, 120GB or 160GB SATA hard drive, but information about how much DDRII 667 MHz memory can it take isn’t provided in Asustek’s press release.

This notebook can be configured with Core 2 Duo T5500, T5600, T7200 or T7400 processor, but also can be powered by CPUs from Intel’s Core Duo family or Core Solo T1350 processor.

One of its features is ASUS MiVo module. “Users of Skype can place a mobile-to-mobile, mobile-to-PC or PC-to-mobile call anywhere in the world for the price of a local call. A broadband connection such as cable or DSL and access to a regular phone line are the only connections required to make a MiVo call. Once connected, MiVo monitors the Skype session and automatically forwards any incoming as well as outgoing Skype calls to any designated phone/PC, giving users the ultimate wireless freedom even away from the notebook”, Asus announced.

One of the R1F’s security features is a fingerprint reader, but you can also setup multi-factor authentication requirements for data access of different security level with ASUS Security Protect Manager.

Asus F2 comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional preloaded.

The laptop also features optional 1.3 M pixel web-camera, and it weights 5.9 pounds with 6-cell battery pack.
