Asus G2S-A1 Gaming Notebook Available for Preorder

Asus G2S-A1, the 17-inch gaming notebook, based on Intel “Santa Rosa” platform and nVidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics unit, is now available for pre-order at EXcaliberPC, as same as the similar 15.4-inch G1S-A1.

The offered G2S-A1 configuration, priced at $2,099, includes Intel PM965 chipset and the new Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7500 at 2.2GHz. The laptop’s 17-inch widescreen 1920×1200 glossy display is managed by GeForce 8600M GT dedicated graphics card with 256MB of VRAM, supporting up to 512MB using shared system memory. The nVidia’s 8600M GT graphics is compatible with forthcoming DirectX 10 games and provides HDCP support. As same as the G1S-A1, the Asus G2S-A1 comes with a 2GB of DDR2 667MHz system RAM (expandable up to 4GB), an 160GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm rotational speed, and a dual layer DVD burner featuring LightScribe technology.

Asus G2S-A1 provides 802.11A/G/N wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth and a 56k modem, as well as built-in 1.3 megapixels camera and microphone for conferencing and chat. There are also four USB ports, Express card slot, MMC/SD/MS/MS-Pro card reader, Firewire, and eSATA external hard drive port. For audio/video output, the G1S-A1 utilizes HDMI, DVI-D, VGA, and S-Video ports. Unlike the G1S, the G2S laptop additionally has AV-In port.

The system weighs 9.6lbs and ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed.
