Asus G2SgAsustek has published details of the upcoming Asus G2Sg, their fist product in the G2S 17-inch gaming notebook series to feature the new 45-nanometer Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” processor and the Nvidia GeForce 8700M video card.

The Asus G2Sg incorporates the Core 2 Duo T8100, T8300, T9300 or T9500 “Penryn” CPU, with speeds ranging from 2.1 GHz to 2.6 GHz. Instead of the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics card with 256MB of dedicated video memory, utilized in previous G2S laptops, the G2Sg comes with the GeForce 8700M GT 512MB GPU. This graphics solution manages the notebook’s 17″ glossy display which has a resoluton of 1920-by-1200 or 1440-by-900 pixels, depending on model.

The G2Sg supports up to 4GB of system memory. It ships with up to 300GB hard drive, and a DVD burner or an HD DVD optical drive.

Regarding communications, this gaming laptop features an 802.11a/b/g/n wireless connection, an optional Bluetooth module, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 56k modem.

There are also a built-in 1.3 megapixel camera, HDMI, VGA and S-Video outputs, five USB ports (1 for eSATA combo port), an ExpressCard slot, and a 4-in-1 media card reader.

The Asus G2Sg weighs around 9.7 pounds with an 8-cell battery, and has the chassis with the Direct Flash sidelights and the ASUS Direct Messenger information side display.

It runs Windows Vista operating system.

Pricing and availability date for the G2Sg notebook are currently unknown.
