Asus U1FAsustek unveiled the specifications of recently announced Asus U1F ultra-light laptop with LED backlight TFT screen and 2.2 pounds weight. Along with special 11.1-inch widescreen display providing 1360 x 768 resolution, the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset based Asus U1F incorporates Intel Core Duo U2400 ultra-low voltage processor, the support for DDR2 667MHz memory and up to 80 GB hard drive.

“The U1F screen adopts a special LED backlight panel that is half the width of and 1/3 lighter than the traditional LCD panel. It operates with lowers power consumption and offers better luminance as well as faster response time. In addition, the 11.1-inch glare-type widescreen with exclusive Splendid Color Enhancement Engine displays vivid colors and sharp details for the most enjoyable viewing experience,” the Asustek’s press release says.

Asus U1F provides 802.11a/b/g wireless, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth, as same as an optional external Blu-Ray/DVD Super Multi Dual Layer Combo drive. There is also built-in 0.3 mega-pixel webcam, fingerprint scanner with TPM (Trusted Platform Module), four USB ports, VGA out and a New Card slot.

The forthcoming U1F ultra-portable utilizes the Power4 Gear eXtreme power management, “extending battery life up to 20-25%, providing a reliable and continuous operation power”.

Asus U1F has piano painted LCD cover, stainless contour and carbon fiber alloy housing with genuine leather bound palm rest, Asustek published.

There is no information on pricing and availability dates. It was previously reported that the U1F will be presented in March this year at CeBIT Show 2007 in Hanover, Germany.

The U1F’s display is a widescreen providing 1360 x 768 resolution. ASUS’ forhcoming 2.2 pounds ultraportable is powered by Intel Core Duo Ultra-Low Voltage (ULV) processor and will come with Windows Vista operating system.

The LED backlight technology incorporated in U1F’s screen is claimed to provide lower power consumption, more realistic colors and a slimmer design.
