Asustek’s latest UX ultrabook laptop series, including the 11.6 inch Asus UX21 and a 13.3 inch UX31, will be officially unveiled on October 11th in the US. Both laptops have 0.12 to 0.67 inch thin profile, an all-aluminum chassis with a brushed finish, ultrabook-optimized 2nd Generation Intel Core ultra-low voltage processors, and solid state drives.
The 2.4-pound UX21 and 2.9-pound UX31 have chiclet-style keyboards, a glass trackpad, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and micro HDMI and mini DisplayPort video connectors. Display resolution on the smaller laptop is 1366×768, while the larger has 1600×900 panel, an uncommonly high resolution for a 13.3″ display.
Asustek says pre-loaded Windows 7 OS on the laptops has a 2-second resume from sleep mode thanks to SATA III SSD technology and ASUS proprietary software. The new UX models can reportedly stay in hibernate mode for up to seven days.
According to leaked pricing for the French market, competitors of the Acer S3, Lenovo U300s, and Toshiba Z830 will cost 799 Euros for a UX21 with 64GB of SSD storage, while a 128GB UX31 model will cost 999 Euros.
