Asus W2P (to look like pictured W2J)Asus W2P multimedia laptop, which features new Intel Core 2 Duo Merom processor, the new ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 graphics card and a HD DVD drive, is being prepared by Asustek.

Asus W2P Intel Centrino laptop will be offered with a range of Core 2 Duo T7xxx and T5xxx processors, as same as with older Intel’s Core Duo CPUs. The new notebook, built on the current 17-inch widescreen W2J model, will have WUXGA 1,920 x 1,200 display driven by the ATI X1700 GPU with 256MB of GDDR3 video memory. Asus W2P will have a HDMI port and an on-board HDCP support. It will also feature hybrid analogue and digital TV tuner and Dolby sound system with built-in four main speakers and a sub-woofer, Reg Hardware reports.

It will feature up to 2GB of DDR2 SDRAM, and will have 802.11a/b/g wireless and Bluetooth.

It is reported that Asus W2P will weight around 7,3 pounds, but there is no information about its battery life, price and availability date.

The Asus laptops with ATI Radeon X1700 are also mentioned in ATI’s press release, which says that “Asus will be the first to market with the Mobility Radeon X1700 graphics processor”.
