Asus W5F ReviewAsus W5F, ultraportable dual-core laptop, was reviewed by several web sites. Here are Asus W5F review quotes taken from stories written by Laptop Magazine, PC Plus, PC Perspective and ZDNet.

:: LAPTOP Magazine – Asus W5F ::
In general, we recommend the Asus W5F for highly mobile users. The notebook’s Core Duo processor keeps things running smoothly, even when multiple applications are active, and the swiveling webcam is more than just a gimmick. If you can live without a PC Card slot and don’t mind limited tech support hours (19 hours during weekdays and 9.5 hours on weekends), this stylish but affordable ultraportable is one worth owning.

You’ll have a harder time fixing the 12.1in LCD display, however. Poor viewing angles are the main problem, with washed-out colours being a further, symptomatic niggle. It falls a long way short of the best of such screens. Despite these disappointments, it’s not enough to ruin the overall result: virtually compromise-free computing power in a genuinely portable and stylish package.

PC Perspective – Asus W5F 12-inch Core Duo Notebook Review
The display is sharp and bright, with extra Splendid Video controls that allow you to tweak the settings to your own preference. I can go on and on, so please save me the trouble and just read the previous pages to see why the W5F is a very strong contender.

The only serious problem I see with the Asus W5F is that there is only one SODIMM slot for you to place a RAM upgrade. Some of you may not see a single SODIMM as a problem, but others will. It’s unfortunate that there is this limitation since everything else about the W5F is spot on.

ZDNet Asus W5F Review & Comparison
The good: Attractive wide-screen display; decent-size keyboard; good speaker quality; impressive selection of ports, including S/PDIF output; built-in dual-layer DVD burner; 100GB hard drive.

The bad: Expensive; case seems cheap; poor camera image quality; lousy support terms.

The bottom line: The Asus W5F provides a number of great multimedia features, but because of its relatively high price, suspect case, and poor warranty, we can’t recommend it over similar laptops from major manufacturers.
