Asustek’s new entertainment laptop PC - the 18.4-inch ASUS W90 - is now available in the United States.
The first offered model is the ASUS W90Vp-X1. Along with the 1920 x 1200 widescreen display, the desktop replacement notebook features the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 processor at 2.80GHz, the high-end ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 1GB dual video card for gaming, three SO-DIMM slots populated with 6GB of DDR2 memory, a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive, and a DVD burner. The W90 is based on the Intel X38 chipset, designed for use in desktop PCs.
The system also includes built-in 5.1 channel Altec Lancing speakers, Dolby Home Theater technology, a 2MP web camera, 802.11/b/g/n Wireless LAN, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and a 56k modem, as well as HDMI and VGA outputs, four USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, eSATA and Firewire ports, and an 8-in-1 media card reader.
The W90Vp-X1, which comes with a 12-cell battery, weighs around 11.5 pounds.
It runs Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS and costs $2,199.99 at NewEgg.
Asustek earlier said the W90 is equipped with the Turbo Gear function, which allows users to overclock the machine by “up to 25%”. The computer maker also plans to launch W90 models with a 17-inch display.
