Averatec today announced its new 12-inch widescreen 2300 laptop computers, the company’s first line of ultraportable notebooks to feature dual-core processor and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition. Averatec 2300 incorporates AMD Turion 64 X2 CPU. It supports up to 2GB of main memory, has 100GB SATA hard drive spinning at 5400rpm and has a DVD double-layer burner.
There is no information about 2300’s graphics card in today’s press release, but according to the logo at notebook’s product page it features the NVIDIA’s GeForce graphics.
Regarding internet and networking, Averatec 2300 has 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet LAN, and a 56K data/fax modem.
Along with three USB ports and PC ExpressCard slot, the 2300 notebook provides a FireWire port, a standard external display output, and a 4-in-1 memory card reader for MS, MS PRO, MMC, and SD cards.
The laptop weights four pounds. The info on battery life isn’t provided in press release, but, according to the 2300’s specifications at CyberScolar.com, it lasts 2.5 hours, “depending on usage”.
Averatec 2300 laptops are offered at an estimated street price of $849.99 to $949.99 depending on configuration and are backed by a one-year limited warranty (six months for the battery) and one-year, toll-free technical support available 24/7.
