Navisis LaptopTablet Converts Notebook to Tablet PC

Navisis LaptopTabletNavisis has showcased at recent CeBIT 2007 show its LaptopTablet product, which provides use of a standard laptop without touch-screen as a pen-input enabled tablet PC.

LaptopTablet attaches itself to notebook computer’s screen panel and to USB port, and receives ultrasonic and infrared signals from the digital pen. This technology allows convenient handwriting, drawing, making signatures or diagrams, according to Navisis.

Gigabyte U60 UMPC Announced

Gigabyte U60Gigabyte has announced its U60 ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) at ongoing CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany.

Gigabyte U60 UMPC has 6.5-inch screen and sliding QWERTY keyboard and is powered by the VIA C7-M processor. According to PMP Today, The U60 features USB ports, a VGA port, Card reader, a built-in Web camera and Microphone. It supports up to 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive. The Gigabyte U60 weighs around 1.6 pounds and its battery life should be around 4 hours.

Clevo M570RU to Feature Intel Santa Rosa and GeForce Go 8800

Clevo M570RUTaiwanese laptop PC maker Clevo has showcased at ongoing CeBIT show its 17-inch widescreen gaming notebook M570RU, which will feature the next generation Intel Santa Rosa platform and the forthcoming DirectX 10-ready NVIDIA GeForce Go 8800 graphics card.

The Intel PM965 chipset-based Clevo M570RU will support up to 4GB of DDR2 667MHz memory and will have Core 2 Duo processor and Intel’s 4965AGN wireless module providing draft 802.11n standard. There are also built-in stereo speakers and a sub-woofer, as well as TPM security, fingerprint reader and built-in web camera, NotebookReview reports.

Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC Introduced

Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPCSamsung has announced the Q1 Ultra ultra-mobile PC, the successor to its Q1 UPMC, at CeBIT show. The Q1 Ultra features 7-inch screen with higher 1024×600 screen resolution, a physical keyboard in form of a split thumb pad, the improved battery life of 3.5 hours and Windows Vista operating system.

According to the reports, Samsung Q1 Ultra uses a new Intel’s low-voltage platform codenamed McCaslin and single core Steeley processor with relatively slow clock speed of 800MHz.

Asus T83 UMPCAsustek showcases at CeBIT in Hannover - Germany its new ultra-mobile PC, the Asus T83 UMPC, which features 7-inch 800 x 480 touch-screen display, a 1GHz Via C7-M processor, 512MB of main memory expandable to 2GB, and an upgradeable 30GB hard drive. The T83, unlike its precursor Asus R2H, has a QWERTY keyboard and six hours of battery life, compared to R2H’s 2 hours, Engadget reports.

Samsung Laptops to Feature External nVIDIA GeForce GO 8000M

NVIDIASamsung Q45 and Samsung R70, the company’s notebooks scheduled for release during the first half of the year, will feature the currently unknown external nVIDIA GeForce GO 8000M series graphics card.

According to Samsung’s CeBIT 2007 web pages, the ultra-portable 12.1-inch widescreen Q45 and 15.4-inch widescreen R70 incorporate HDMI output for playback of high definition multimedia content. There is no other information about nVIDIA’s forthcoming GeForce GO 8000M external video card. Earlier reports say the GeForce 8000 series graphics for notebooks will be DirectX 10 compatible, as same as its desktop counterpart. There is currently only one announced external video solution for laptops - the Asus XG Station, which connects to notebook via ExpressCard slot.

Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC Based on Intel’s Santa Rosa Platform

Samsung Q1 Ultra Features Santa Rosa - Centrino ProSamsung Q1 Ultra, the company’s new ultra mobile PC scheduled for launch at CeBIT 2007 show in Hannover - Germany, is based on Intel’s forthcoming Santa Rosa notebook platform, Daily Tech reports.

“The Q1 Ultra will be riding on Intel’s Centrino Pro platform, codenamed Santa Rosa, and will be sporting a new Core 2 based processor running at a mere 800MHz. Intel’s 965 chipset will provide the core logic, and by association a GMA3000-derived graphics chipset will offer DirectX 9.0c features. Weight is slightly reduced to 1.5lbs from the 1.7lbs of the Q1, and just over a half-inch of height is shaved off,” the report says.

Logitech Announced New QuickCams for Notebooks

Logitech QuickCam Deluxe and QuckCam for NotebooksLogitech today announced the QuickCam Deluxe and QuickCam web-cameras for notebooks. The new webcams, introduced at CeBIT show in Hannover - Germany, incorporate 1.3 megapixel sensor and provide maximum of 640×480 vide capture resolution and up to 15 frames-per-second.

The Logitech QuickCam Deluxe for Notebooks additionaly features a glass lens.

SanDisk Released 32GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive

SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5-InchSanDisk Corporation today released SSD SATA 5000 2.5-Inch, its new flash memory-based solid state drive with 32GB of data storage capacity, as a drop-in replacement for traditional laptop hard disk drives.

Along with 2.5-inch form factor and a Serial ATA interface, the new SanDisk SSD offers “six times” greater reliability than standard HDDs, as well as faster system boot times, better power efficiency and cool and quiet operation, since this drive has no moving parts found in hard drives.

Clevo D900C Gaming Noteboook to Feature Desktop Chipset, CPU

Clevo D900CLaptop maker Clevo will unveil at CeBIT Show in Germany this week the new D900C gaming laptop, which will be based on Intel’s desktop PC-use 965 chipset with Core 2 Duo Extreme processor and with Nvidia’s SLI graphics system utilizing two video cards.

Clevo’s the “World’s Fastest Notebook”, features a 17-inch widescreen display with 1680 x 1050 or 1920 x 1200 resolution and can be configured with one of the desktop Intel Core 2 Duos or with Core 2 Duo Extreme processor (both codenamed Conroe). It is not currently known if the Clevo D900C will feature dual Nvidia Geforce Go 7950 GTX or forthcoming Geforce Go 8800 GPUs, according to NotebookReview.

Along with special 11.1-inch widescreen display providing 1360 x 768 resolution, the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset based Asus U1F incorporates Intel Core Duo U2400 ultra-low voltage processor, the support for DDR2 667MHz memory and up to 80 GB hard drive.
