UTStarcom PC5750 Mobile Broadband Connection Card Intorduced
Eleksen WDM Integrates Windows SideShow into Bags
Eleksen Group unveiled the Microsoft Windows SideShow based Wearable Display Module (WDM), a computer auxiliary display product for integration into soft-goods such as bags, backpacks and clothing. The Wearable Display Module, showcased at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, lets consumers connect their carry cases directly to their computer with Windows Vista installed and view critical glance data like email, appointments and other information from the bags exterior on the go, without needing to open the bag or access the computing device.
Targus ExpressCard Notebook Docking Station with Digital A/V Introduced
Targus, the notebook computer cases and accessories maker, announced a new Universal ExpressCard Notebook Docking Station with Digital Video and Audio during 2007 CES last week. The Universal ExpressCard docking station provides a single “one-touch” high-speed interface and has the capability to transfer up to 2.5 gigabits per second data, four times faster than USB, according to Targus.
The latest company’s docking station is one of the first universal ExpressCard stations with digital video output capabilities, digital and analog audio out, Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000), serial port, and four Hi-Speed USB ports, two of which are “always on” USB ports. The “always on” feature allows users to power and charge peripheral devices such as mice, mobile phones and MP3 players while the laptop is in standby or shut-down mode.
Toshiba Dynadock USB Docking Station Available
Toshiba announced the Dynadock USB docking station with video capabilities to provide connecting multiple displays and peripherals simultaneously, at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
The Dynadock is available in DVI or VGA versions.
OQO 02 - the Smallest Windows Vista Computer
Bill Gates showcased the OQO 02 ultra-mobile PC in his keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Weighing a mere one pound and small enough to fit in a pocket, the model 02 is the world’s smallest Windows Vista capable computer, according to OQO.
“The model 02 is up to four times faster and has a display more than six times brighter than its groundbreaking predecessor, the model 01+. Redesigned from the ground up, the model 02 features a new ergonomic backlit keyboard and capacitive TouchScrollers for easy input and navigation. The model 02 incorporates complete wireless connectivity – including EV-DO Wireless WAN, WiFi, and Bluetooth,” OQO published.
MSI HATO Medical Laptop Features ECG Monitoring
Micro-Star International (MSI) has designed a HATO medical laptop which supports the ECG (electrocardiogram analysis) and showcased it at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
“MSI HATO (Heartbeat Audition Transceiver On-the-Go) notebook is designed to monitor the patient’s electrocardiogram record and to enable online access to doctor who can view the results anytime in the hospital. The HATO is great solution for doctors and patients who want to get immediate monitoring and diagnosis,” the press release says.

Sony VAIO UX Premium Micro PC Announced
Sony announced that VAIO UX Premium Micro PC, a flash drive version of its VAIO UX Micro PC, will become available this February.
UX Premium Micro PC comes with 32GB flash memory based drive. These drives, known as solid state discs/drives (SSD), provide faster speeds for booting up and accessing data, greater reliability and lower power consumption.
Kensington Si750m LE Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse For Women Introduced
Kensington announced the Si750m LE Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse, designed for women, at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
“It is sculpted to fit comfortably in a woman’s hand and is being offered in the titanium silver and pink combination which complements other products and which women prefer. Its high-resolution laser sensor provides superior precision on almost any surface. Additional features include interference-resistant 2.4 GHz wireless technology that provides high-speed performance and a range of up to 30 feet and a smart mini receiver that tucks inside the mouse and automatically turns it off when stowed to save battery life”, according to the press release.
Belkin Cooling Stand for Notebooks Unveiled
Belkin unveiled the Cooling Stand for notebook computers at Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas this week. It is powered by laptop’s USB port.
“A unique wave design creates a channel between the laptop and the stand to assist in natural airflow. Unlike other laptop fans that draw heat down to push it out, the Cooling Stand’s fan takes advantage of heat’s natural reaction to rise by pushing hot air upward through the channel and away from your laptop,” Belkin explains.
Twinhead DURABOOK D13RY, D14RY Rugged Laptops Announced
Twinhead Corporation launched its DURABOOK D13RY and DURABOOK D14RY rugged laptop models at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The two new DURABOOKs feature Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors, magnesium-alloy cases, spill-resistant an anti-shock mounting design, as well as optional hardware-based security technology TPM 1.2.
Twinhead says DURABOOK D13RY is a mobile multimedia center with 13.3″ WXGA TFT LCD screen, 1.3 mega pixel webcam, and four 1-watt stereo speakers. The DURABOOK D14RY is built for the road warrior and includes a non-glare 14.1″ XGA TFT LCD display.
LG Z1 Laptop Features NVIDIA Preface with SideShow
NVIDIA today announced that LG Electronics (LG) has a new series of notebook computers, the LG Z1, featuring NVIDIA Preface Personal Media Display (PMD) platform with Windows SideShow.
“Windows SideShow is a new technology that allows the Windows Vista operating system to drive auxiliary displays providing consumers with faster and easier to use bite-size bits of information. NVIDIA Preface interface (located on the notebook’s lid) allows consumers to link to the programs and data stored on the main system, even when the notebook is in hibernation mode or turned off. Some of the many gadgets that can be used on the go without draining battery life, include music playback, photo slideshows, e-mail, calendars, world clocks, stock quotes, RSS feeds, and more”, according to the NVIDIA’s press release.
Voodoo ENVY HW:201 Introduced
VoodooPC today introduced the Voodoo ENVY HW:201 gaming laptop, featuring two NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX GPUs running in NVIDIA SLI mode and powered by AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor. VoodooPC HW:201 also features the a 20.1-inch widescreen.
“It may be large, and the battery life is non-existent, but this is one insanely fast notebook,” said Rahul Sood, chief technologist, VoodooPC.
HP Pavilion tx1000 Tablet PC Announced
Hewlett-Packard today announced the HP Pavilion tx1000 Tablet PC, featuring AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor and a 12.1-inch WXGA touch-screen display (1280 x 800) with 180° rotation, at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The HP tx1000 tablet incorporates an integrated NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics with up to 128MB of shared memory, a 2GB main memory, a 160GB SATA hard drive spinning at 5400rpm and a DVD burner.
Samsung Q1P SSD UMPC with 32GB Flash-Memory Storage Announced
Samsung announced, Q1P SSD, the newest Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) model, at CES 2007 in Las Vegas. The Q1P SSD is the first UMPC of its kind to use an SSD solid state flash memory-based hard drive in place of a conventional rotational media-based hard drive.
Samsung Q1P SSD provides 32GB of storage capacity with the solid state drive.
