Toshiba Introduced Qosmio Prototype with HD DVD Burner
Toshiba is demonstrating a prototype of its Qosmio multimedia laptop with an integrated HD DVD-R optical drive, “the first notebook computer with the ability to burn HD DVDs”, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 in Las Vegas this week. The forthcoming Toshiba Qosmio also incorporates Microsoft’s Windows Vista OS and a high definition TV tuner, according to the company.
Toshiba Portege R400 Introduced
Toshiba today announced the Portege R400 tablet, “the signature Windows Vista PC”, at CES 2007. Toshiba Portege R400 is claimed to be the world’s first notebook computer with the ability to automatically synchronize e-mail and calendar events through the integration of Microsoft’s Active Notifications. Among significant inovations incorporated in Portege R400, there are the secondary Edge Display, the main LED backlit 12.1-inch screen and a patent pending elevated rotational hinge. The Toshiba Wireless Port Replicator is also introduced.
Samsung SPH-P9000 UMPC Featuring WiMAX to Be Shown at CES
Samsung will show the SPH-P9000 UMPC device which features Mobile WiMAX technology, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 in Las Vegas.
Samsung SPH-P9000 also incorporates Windows XP operating system, and full QWERTY keyboard, 30GB hard disk, 256MB RAM, a 1GHz CPU and 1.3 megapixel camera, as same as CDMA EV-DO network capability.
MSI S300 Crystal Collection Laptop Announced
Micro-Star Int’l today announced MSI S300 Crystal Collection, the 13.3-inch widescreen laptop with crystal. Along with MSI’s exclusive ring on notebook lid, made of 120 pieces of “genuine SWAROVSKI crystal”, the S300 also features the Shiny UV Light Glossy Coating.
Based on Intel’s 945GM chipset, the MSI S300 Crystal Collection features a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB SATA hard drive, a DVD burner and a 802.11b/g wireless connection.

Asus W5Fe with SideShow Introduced
Asustek today introduced the Asus W5Fe series laptops featuring SideShow, an external auxiliary display on the notebook’s LCD cover.
The SideShow, which runs as an independent operating system and complements with Windows Vista, can be switched on without booting up the whole system. With imbedded flash memory, users can save selected data to SideShow, in forms of text, image and audio, for later review, according to Asus.

Eclipse Solar Gear to Display Hybrid Notebook Case at 2007 CES
Eclipse Solar Gear will display Hybrid Notebook Case at the 2007 International CES, which runs January 8-11 in Las Vegas. The Case provides an integrated solar charging solution, an auxiliary battery, and an integrated thermal cooling solution, according to the company.
The auxiliary battery can supply extra power for a laptop or handheld devices including cell phones, MP3 players, GPS units or satellite radios, Eclipse Solar Gear claims.
Asus to Showcase XG Audio-Visual Workstation at CES
Asus will showcase the XG Station, an audio-visual workstation for laptops, at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2007 in Las Vegas. Aimed to give users better graphics and audio-visual effects when connected to their notebook, it is equipped with discrete graphics chips, Dolby output and USB 2.0, according to the company.
