Dell Inspiron Mini 12Dell introduced today the Inspiron Mini 12, the company’s new netbook that features a 12-inch display.

“With a starting weight of only 2.72 lbs. and only 0.92 in. thick, current standard features on the Inspiron Mini 12 include: Windows Vista Home Basic, built-in webcam, 1GB of RAM and a choice of 60 GB or 80GB hard drive,” Dell says adding that the widescreen display has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.

Dell Inspiron 15, 14 (1525, 1420)Dell has renamed select models in the Inspiron laptop lineup, giving them simpler names.

The 14.1-inch Inspiron 1420 is now Inspiron 14, while the 15.4-inch 1525 is now Inspiron 15. The Inspiron notebook series also includes a recently released 13.3-incher - the 13 - and the Mini 9. The 17-inch models are currently unavailable.

The Inspiron Mini 9, that has a starting price of $349 and a starting weight of 2.28 pounds, features an 8.9-inch LED backlit display, Intel’s Atom processor, up to 1GB of RAM, up to 16GB of solid state drive capacity, a 4-cell battery, and Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Linux OS.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9Dell launched today the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 low-cost netbook, featuring a 8.9-inch display and the Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor.

Starting at 2.28 pounds, the Inspiron Mini 9 comes with 512MB or 1GB of DDR2 memory, 8GB or 16GB of solid state drive storage, Intel GMA 950 GPU, a 4-cell battery, and 1.3-megapixel web camera.

Dell Inspiron 13 13.3-Incher Now Available

Dell Inspiron 13The Dell Inspiron 13, a customizable 13.3-inch consumer laptop, is now available for purchase at the PC maker’s website.

The Inspiron 13 can be configured with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, and up to 320GB of hard drive space. The laptop comes with the Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics, which manages the 1280×800 display, and a slot-load DVD burner.

Dell Inspiron 910Gizmodo has published leaked details of the upcoming Dell Inspiron 910 low-cost ultraportable notebook, featuring a 8.9-inch display and Intel’s Atom processor.

According to the specifications sheet, the 2.2-pound Inspiron 910 comes with the Atom N270 CPU at 1.6GHz, 512MB or 1GB of RAM, a 4GB, 8GB or 16GB solid state drive, 4-cell battery, and Intel’s integrated graphics. Its display has a resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels.

Dell Inspiron 1318Wal-Mart now offers the Dell Inspiron 1318, PC maker’s first 13.3-inch Inspiron laptop model.

Priced at $698, the 1318 features the Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390 processor at 1.86GHz, GMA X3100 integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB hard drive, DVD burner, built-in 2MP web camera, embedded 802.11b/g wireless card, and Ethernet LAN port.

Dell Releases BIOS Updates to Prevent Nvidia GPU Issues

Dell LogoDell has released BIOS updates for select notebooks to help reduce the likelihood of recently revealed Nvidia graphics card issues.

The affected Nvidia GPUs are experiencing higher than expected failure rates causing video problems such as no video, multiple images on the screen, and random characters or lines on the display.

Dell Now Offers Ubuntu 8.04-Powered Inspiron 1525n, XPS M1330n

Dell LogoDell now offers the Linux-based Inspiron 1525n and XPS M1330n laptops with the new 8.04 “Hardy Heron” version of Ubuntu distribution.

The company says the new version of Ubuntu Linux on their PCs delivers more peripheral support - like ATI Video Graphics, Dell Wireless, Fingerprint Readers, HDMI, Bluetooth and MP3/WMA/WMV.

Dell Mini Inspiron Pictured

Dell Mini InspironGizmodo.com and Direct2Dell.com published yesterday images of the Dell Mini Inspiron ultraportable laptop, the company’s first low-cost mini-notebook.

Details of the Dell Mini Inspiron are currently unknown. However, Gizmodo noticed that the small laptop has three USB ports, a memory card reader, VGA output, and Ethernet LAN port. The notebook has a red lid.

Dell Inspiron 1435, 1535 1735 DesignDell is going to refresh its consumer notebook lineup with the Inspiron 1435, 1535 and 1735 series, Engadget reports.

According to a leaked document, the upcoming laptops will feature a new design, “bringing elements of Dell’s premium XPS lineup into reach of mainstream consumers.” As same as current Inspirons, the 1435, 1535 and 1735 will feature various color options. Engadget says all three laptops start at around 1-inch thick and taper up to 1.5 inches thick.

Dell Laptops to Feature Qualcomm’s Gobi Mobile Broadband Solution

Dell LogoDell’s next-generation laptops, available later this year, will support a single-card EV-DO and HSPA 3G network connections through Qualcomm’s Gobi solution, the PC maker announced yesterday.

Dell explains that, using the Qualcomm Gobi, U.S.-based travelers who connect their laptops via EV-DO carrier networks (like Verizon Wireless or Sprint), will be also able to connect via HSPA carrier networks (like European Vodafone). Today customers who wish to connect to both types of networks must use two different mobile broadband cards.

Dell Inspiron 1525Dell Home has added Blu-ray optical drive options to its Inspiron 1525 15.4-inch consumer laptop.

The offered Blu-ray Disc Combo plays Blu-ray media and can read and write standard DVDs. The new option adds $250 to the notebook’s overall price, when selected instead of a DVD burner.

Customers who purchase the 1525N can choose a 30-day support for Ubuntu beginners, 1-year basic Ubuntu support, or 1-year standard support, for additional $65, $125, and $275 respectively.
