Dell Releases Studio 17 Multi-Touch Edition
Dell launched today a multi-touch edition of the Studio 17 laptop.
Along with the multi-touch enabled 17.3-inch LED backlight display, the multimedia-oriented Studio 17 features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the GMA 4500MHD integrated or the ATI Radeon 4570/4650 dedicated graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of hard drive storage using two 500GB HDDs, a DVD burner, Blu-ray Combo drive, or Blu-ray burner, and Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
Dell Studio 15, 17 Now with Intel Core i7
Along with the Alienware M15x, Dell has refreshed another two laptops which are now equipped with the Intel Core i7 mobile processor.
These are the multimedia-oriented 15.6-inch Dell Studio 15 and the 17.3-inch Studio 17, both available with the Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz or $350 pricier Core i7 820QM 1.73GHz. The laptops use ATI Mobility Radeon dedicated video cards.
Best Buy Launches Next Class Laptops for Students
Best Buy has introduced the Next Class series laptops for college students.
“Designed directly from customer insight,” the four-unit lineup includes the 14-inch Dell Studio 1440-022B ($750) and Toshiba Satellite M505-S4940 ($650), the 14.1-inch HP Pavilion dv4-1465dx ($746), and the 15.5-inch Sony VAIO VGN-NW125J/T ($800).
Dell Studio 14z Launched
Dell announced today the Studio 14z consumer laptop, featuring a 14-inch display, Intel’s Pentium or Core 2 Duo processors, and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics.
With a starting weight of 4.3 pounds, the Dell Studio 14z, also includes up to 500GB hard drive, up to 5GB of DDR3 memory, a 6- or 8-cell battery, a built-in 1.3MP web camera, stereo speakers, an HDMI output and a Display Port, a Wireless-G or Wireless-N card, a Gigabit LAN port, optional Bluetooth and mobile broadband connections, three USB ports (one with eSATA functionality), an ExpressCard slot, and Firewire. The 14z does not feature a built-in optical drive.

Dell Prepares New Studio 15 1555 Laptop
Dell is going to release the new Studio 15 notebook - the 1555 model with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 dedicated GPU, according to a product support page on Dell.com.
The 1555 will also include a subwoofer, which is a new feature in the Studio 15 lineup. However, further details are unknown at the time of this writing.
Dell Studio XPS 1340, 1640 Silently Released
Dell has silently released two new consumer notebooks - the 13.3-inch Studio XPS 1340 and 16-inch Studio XPS 1640.
The newly designed Studio XPS 1340 and 1640 include the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 500GB of hard drive storage or a 128GB solid state drive, and a slot-load optical drive with Blu-ray option in the larger model. The 1340 comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory, the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G or 9500M 256MB graphics and a screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels, while the 1640 includes up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, the new ATI Mobility Radeon M86XT (HD 3670) 512MB GPU, and a 1366×768 display.
Dell Launches Design Studio for Laptops
Dell has unveiled Design Studio, an online service that allows customers to personalize Dell Studio laptops with artwork.
“Dell Design Studio offers more than 100 exclusive and original works of art to express personal style for the Dell Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptops for $75. Each image is permanently tattooed into the laptop lid, making the design extremely durable,” the press release says.
Dell Launches Special Art Edition Studio 15, 17
Dell has launched five Special Art Edition designs by urban artist Mike Ming for the Dell Studio 15 and 17 laptops.
New designs for the Dell Studio 15 and 17 include “Red Swirl,” “Seaweed,” and “Sunburst,” in addition to the previously released “Bunch O Surfers” and “Sea Sky.”
Dell Now Offers Ubuntu 8.04-Powered Inspiron 1525n, XPS M1330n
Dell now offers the Linux-based Inspiron 1525n and XPS M1330n laptops with the new 8.04 “Hardy Heron” version of Ubuntu distribution.
The company says the new version of Ubuntu Linux on their PCs delivers more peripheral support - like ATI Video Graphics, Dell Wireless, Fingerprint Readers, HDMI, Bluetooth and MP3/WMA/WMV.

The Dell Studio 15, a 15.4-inch mainstream consumer notebook, has been reviewed by PC Magazine and CNet.
This Intel Centrino-based laptop fills the gap between the affordable Inspiron and higher-end XPS 15.4-inchers. It is claimed to offer a great design at low prices, outstanding performance, and an excellent keyboard. The other positive sides of the Studio 15 are a wide selection of options when configuring the notebook and a variety of color choices, as well as included HDMI output and remote control.

Dell announced today the Studio 17, a new 17-inch highly customizable consumer laptop.
The Dell Studio 17 is based on Intel’s Centrino mobile technology, which includes Intel 965GM/PM chipsets and Core 2 Duo processors. The notebook supports up to 4GB of RAM and comes with up to 640GB of storage space, using two 320GB hard drives. It is equipped with a slot-load DVD burner or Blu-Ray Combo, depending on customer’s choice. Laptop’s 17″ widescreen display with glossy coating features two resolution options: 1440×900, with optional LED backlight, and 1920×1200. The display is managed by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 integrated GPU or the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 256MB dedicated graphics.
Dell Launches Studio-Branded Laptops
Dell today introduced the Studio 15 and Studio 17 notebook PCs, which are company’s first “Studio”-branded consumer products.
“These laptops combine sleek designs, striking visual color elements and personalization options with features such as standard built-in webcam, capacitive touch media control buttons, slot load drives, and optional mercury-free LED displays and built-in mobile broadband,” Dell says.
