HP Compaq Presario CQ61Z Series Overview
HP Launches Compaq 515, 610 Essential Business Laptops
Hewlett-Packard has launched the Compaq 515 and Compaq 610 notebooks that belong to their Essential business lineup.
The Compaq 515 has a 14.1-inch display, an AMD Athlon X2 or Turion X2 processor, and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics. It comes with up to 3GB of DDR2 memory, up to 250GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner. The 15.6-inch Compaq 610 is available with an Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron Dual-Core processor, Intel’s GMA X3100 integrated GPU, up to 3GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB HDD, and a DVD burner.
HP Recalls 70,000 Batteries for Pavilion, G Series, Compaq Laptop
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with Hewlett-Packard, yesterday announced a voluntary recall of Lithium-Ion batteries used in select HP and Compaq laptops.
The recall includes around 70,000 units that can potentially overheat, “posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers”.
HP Ships Enviro Series Battery for Laptops, Gives 3-Year Warranty
New laptop batteries, based on the latest Boston Power’s Sonata technology, are available now as accessories for 18 existing Hewlett-Packard notebook models.
Sonata Li-ion cells in the HP Enviro Series batteries are claimed to deliver sustainable performance for three years, which is “three times longer than most other notebook computer batteries”. HP is providing a three-year warranty on the batteries. In addition, the batteries are Ecolabel-certified.
Compaq Presario CQ60Z - Sub-$500 15.6″ Laptop
Hewlett-Packard launched today the Compaq Presario CQ60Z, a configurable 15.6-inch laptop for budget minded users.
Starting at $469.99 after instant savings, the Presario CQ60Z comes with the AMD Sempron, Athlon, and Turion processors, the NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G graphics, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 400GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner. The display has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1366×768 pixels.

Saturday Deal: $298 Compaq Presario CQ50-139WM at Walmart
Walmart is offering HP’s Compaq Presario CQ50-139WM 15.4-inch laptop for only $298 this Saturday, November 8.
The retailer says the CQ50-139WM has 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Windows Vista Basic operating system. However, we were not able to find detailed specifications of the notebook at the time of this writing.
HP to Release Compaq Mini 700 Netbook
Hewlett-Packard is going to unveil the Compaq Mini 700 netbook, similar to the recently announced HP Mini 1000, according to UK-based websites Pocket Lint and T3.
The Compaq Mini 700 has only a few differences when compared to the Mini 1000: the 700 comes an optional HSDPA modem and has a Compaq logo instead of an HP logo.
HP Compaq Presario CQ70 - New 17″ Laptop
Circuit City has in stock a new 17-inch consumer notebook - the HP Compaq Presario CQ70.
The offered CQ70-120US model, priced at $700 after instant savings, features the Intel Pentium T3200 dual core processor at 2GHz, 3GB of DDR2 memory, a 250GB hard drive, the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, and a DVD burner. Its widescreen display has a resolution of 1440-by-900 pixels.
HP Compaq 2230s Now Available
Hewlett-Packard’s new 12.1-inch ultraportable notebook for business users - the HP Compaq 2230s - is now available for purchase.
The 4-pound 2230s is based on the Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform. It uses the latest Core 2 Duo 45-nanometer processors, but is also offered with Celeron CPUs. The laptop supports up to 8GB of DDR2 memory and comes with up to 320GB of hard drive capacity and a built-in DVD, Combo, or DVD burner optical drive.
HP Lists Notebooks with Defective GPUs, Releases New BIOS
Hewlett-Packard has listed 24 laptop models that are affected by a reported Nvidia graphics card problem.
The list of potentially affected systems includes select HP Pavilion dv2000, dv6000, and dv9000 models and select HP Compaq Presario V3000 and V6000 laptops.
HP Compaq 6730b Now Available, Features Centrino 2
Hewlett-Packard has added the HP Compaq 6730b notebook to its business class notebook line.
The 15.4-inch Compaq 6730b is HP’s first business laptop based on Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” mobile platform, and includes the new Core 2 Duo or Celeron CPUs and the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. The laptop supports up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM and comes with up to 250GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner or combo optical drive. The notebook’s display has a resolution of 1280×800 or 1680×1050 pixels, both with mate or glossy finish.
HP Compaq 6535b, 6735b - Company’s First “Puma” Business Laptops
Hewlett-Packard has added to its business-class notebook lineup the first two models based on AMD “Puma” mobile platform - the 15.4-inch HP Compaq 6735b and 14.1-inch 6535b.
The new “Puma” laptops are currently available only as preconfigured systems. The specifications say the notebooks come with an AMD Turion X2, AMD Turion X2 Ultra, or AMD Athlon X2 processor. The HP Compaq 6735b and 6535b have the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics and support up to 8GB of DDR2 800MHz memory. However, the offered configurations include 2GB or 3GB of RAM. The currently available systems also feature up to 160GB of hard drive space, a DVD burner, which can be replaced with a secondary HDD, and built-in web camera in select models.
Compaq Presario CQ50Z Overview
Hewlett-Packard unveiled this week details of the Compaq Presario CQ50Z 15.4-inch notebook PC, aimed at budget-minded customers.
The CQ50Z will be configurable with AMD Athlon and AMD Sempron processors, up to 2GB of system memory, and up to 250GB of hard drive storage. It comes with a DVD burner. The notebook’s 15.4″ 1280-by-800 widescreen display is managed by the NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G graphics.
HP’s Montevina-, Puma-Based Laptops Coming in July
HP today introduced 16 new notebook PCs for consumers and business users. The newly designed laptop series feature models based on the latest mobile platforms - Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” and AMD “Puma”.
The consumer-oriented laptop lineup includes the HP Pavilion dv4, dv5, and dv7 Entertainment Notebook PCs with the new liquid-metallic HP Imprint 2 surface design, as well as the Compaq Presario CQ45, CQ40 and CQ50 Series. Business customers are going to be offered with 10 new mobile systems, including the ruggedized HP EliteBook, and the redesigned “b”-series and “s”-series.
Intel Pernyn Appears in HP Compaq Laptops
The HP Compaq 6510, 6710, 6720, and 6820 notebook models are now offered with the Intel Core 2 Duo 45nm “Penryn” processors, Crave CNet reports.
These business oriented laptops come with the T8100 and T8300 “Penryn” CPUs, clocked at 2.1GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. The T8100 is a basic processor option, while selection of the T8300 adds $50 to the overall notebook’s price, according to configuration pages on Hewlett-Packard’s website.
