Intel Pernyn Appears in HP Compaq Laptops

HP CompaqThe HP Compaq 6510, 6710, 6720, and 6820 notebook models are now offered with the Intel Core 2 Duo 45nm “Penryn” processors, Crave CNet reports.

These business oriented laptops come with the T8100 and T8300 “Penryn” CPUs, clocked at 2.1GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. The T8100 is a basic processor option, while selection of the T8300 adds $50 to the overall notebook’s price, according to configuration pages on Hewlett-Packard’s website.

HP Compaq 2133Hewlett-Packard is going to release the HP Compaq 2133, the company’s first ultra-mobile PC (UMPC), Engadget reports.

“The HP Compaq 2133 “lifestyle accessory” features a big, scratch resistant 8.9-inch 1366 x 766 (WXGA) display, ExpressCard/54 slot, Wireless LAN, nearly full-sized QWERTY (95% of full), integrated webcam, and optional SSD in a 2.5-pound anodized aluminum sex pot running Vista or Linux,” the report says.

HP Compaq 6820s to Be Available with Penryn CPU

HP Compaq 6820sThe HP Compaq 6820s 17-inch business notebook will be available soon with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile “Penryn” processor, according to product pages on the Hewlett-Packard’s website for the Canadian market.

Along with the Core 2 Duo T7000/T5000 series and Celeron processors, the laptop will be configurable with the Core 2 Duo T8100 CPU at 2.1GHz or T8300 at 2.4GHz. Both of these “Penryn” chips have a 800MHz front-side bus and 3MB of L2 cache.

HP Fixes Flaws in Software Update

HPUsers of Hewlett-Packard and Compaq desktop and notebook PCs should run Software Update on these computers to patch flaws in the update service’s ActiveX control, according to a security warning issued by HP.

The bugs in the ActiveX control can be used to execute remote code or gain additional access rights, accordingly.

HP Compaq Business Laptops to Feature Sprint Mobile Broadband

HP Compaq 6910pHewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it will integrate Sprint mobile broadband capabilities into several HP Compaq business notebook PCs.

“The companies will jointly market HP business notebooks that can take advantage of the dynamic features of the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, such as the faster data speeds provided by 3G EV-DO Rev. A technology,” the press release says.

HP to Add 64GB SSD Option to Compaq Business Laptops

HP Compaq 2510p - to Receive SSD OptionHewlett-Packard has announced that it will offer Flash memory-based 64GB solid state drives in its HP Compaq 2710p Tablet PCs, the HP Compaq 2510p ultraportable laptops, as well as in the HP Compaq 6910p and the HP Compaq 8000 series notebooks.

According to HP, the solid state drive’s shock resistance helps improve the notebook’s reliability, while its decreased power consumption, when compared to traditional hard drives, improves battery life. SSDs also offer improved performance and up to 25 percent weight savings, HP says.

HP Compaq 6820s 17″ Business Laptop Available

HP Compaq 6820sAlong with the Compaq 6520s and 6720s, Hewlett-Packard has announced the HP Compaq 6820s business oriented 17-inch notebook, featuring the Intel “Santa Rosa” mobile platform, the dedicated AMD’s ATI Mobility Radeon graphics, and the new industrial design.

The HP Compaq 6820s is based on the Intel’s PM965 chipset, paired with Core 2 Duo T7500, T7250 or T5470 processor and ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 video module featuring dedicated graphics memory. It is a new DirectX 9 compatible video solution by AMD and the 6820s is the first notebook to use it. However, HP didn’t specify the size of the X1350’s video RAM. The laptop’s 17” widescreen display provides 1440-by-900 pixels resolution, and is available in matt and glossy versions.

HP Compaq 6720s (the 6520s Looks Similar)Hewlett-Packard has announced the HP Compaq 6520s and the HP Compaq 6720s affordable business-class notebooks, both featuring Intel’s chipsets and processors and the new industrial design.

The 6520s and the 6720s are based on the Intel GM965 (800MHz front side bus) or the new GL960 (533MHz FSB) chipset, and Intel Core 2 Duo or Celeron M processor, depending on configuration. We assume notebook models with Core 2 Duo CPUs use the GM965, while the GL960 chipset is most likely paired with a Celeron processor. These chipsets incorporate the integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100.

HP Compaq Presario V6500ZHewlett-Packard has expanded its 15.4-inch notebook lineup with the affordable Compaq Presario V6500Z, featuring AMD processor and NVIDIA nForce 630M chipset.

The Presario V6500Z is offered with a choice of the AMD Sempron Mobile or the Athlon 64 X2 dual core CPU. The laptop’s chipset incorporates the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M integrated graphics, which manages the 15.4″ widescreen 1280-by-800 pixels display. There is no dedicated graphics module option. The HP Compaq Presario V6500Z comes with 512MB DDR2, 1GB or 2GB of system memory, and with a 80GB, 120GB or 160GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive, depending on the customer’s choice. There are also DVD burner and Combo drive options.

The 2510p supports up to 2GB of main DDR2 memory and comes with 1.8-inch SMART PATA hard drive at 4200rpm, providing up to 100GB of data storage capacity. This ultra-portable has built in optical drive, with a choice of combo drive or DVD burner.

HP Compaq 6510b has a 14.1-inch widescreen display with 1280×800 resolution, while HP Compaq 6710b features the 15.4-inch 1280×800 or 1680×1050 widescreen TFT. The 6510b and 6710b have the same specifications, except their screen size and weight of 5.38lbs and 5.7lbs, respectively. Both notebooks are built upon Intel GM965 chipset with an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and are offered with up to 2GB of main memory, which is expandable to 4GB. HP 510 Affordable Notebooks Now Available in U.S.

HP 510HP 510, the 15.4-inch widescreen notebook computer for budget minded users, is now available in the United States. Hewlett-Packard has suggested $565 and $699 retail prices for Celeron 1.4GHz and Pentium 2.13GHz configurations, respectively.

The offered HP 510 laptops ship with 512MB of DDR2 memory and with 60GB 5400rpm hard drive. The cheaper Celeron model (RU961AA) incorporates combo drive, while the Pentium version (RX709AA) comes with DVD burner. Some HP 510 models are built upon Mobile Intel 915GM chipset, while others are based on 910GML chipset, according to PC maker. However, both chipsets provide Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128MB of shared system memory.
