HP Lists Notebooks with Defective GPUs, Releases New BIOS

HPHewlett-Packard has listed 24 laptop models that are affected by a reported Nvidia graphics card problem.

The list of potentially affected systems includes select HP Pavilion dv2000, dv6000, and dv9000 models and select HP Compaq Presario V3000 and V6000 laptops.

HP Pavilion dv7z Launched

HP Pavilion dv7zHewlett-Packard has launched a newly designed 17-inch entertainment notebook PC - the HP Pavilion dv7z - powered by AMD’s “Puma” mobile platform.

The Pavilion dv7z includes an AMD Turion X2 Ultra, Turion X2, or Athlon mobile CPU, depending on customer’s choice, and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics or Radeon HD 3450 256MB dedicated video card. The dv7z comes with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, single or dual hard drives for up to 500GB of storage, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray optical drive.

HP Pavilion dv4Hewlett-Packard’s recently announced HP Pavilion dv4t 14.1-inch entertainment notebook PC, featuring Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform, known as “Montevina”, and the new design, is now available for purchase.

The Pavilion dv4t includes the Intel Core 2 Duo processor and the new GMA X4500 integrated graphics, or Nvidia GeForce 9200M GS 256MB dedicated GPU. The laptop supports up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive storage, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray Disc drive. The 14.1″ 1280×800 widescreen display in this notebook has CCFL or LED backlight.

HP Pavilion dv5tHewlett-Packard released today the HP Pavilion dv5t Entertainment Notebook PC, featuring a 15.4-inch display, Intel’s “Montevina” Centrino 2 mobile platform, and the new finish.

The HP Pavilion dv5t includes the Intel Core 2 Duo 45nm processor at 2 - 2.8GHz, depending on model. There are also the new GMA X4500 integrated graphics, or one of the Nvidia’s dedicated GPUs - GeForce 9200M GS 256MB or GeForce 9600M GT 512MB. The laptop supports up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 320GB of hard drive storage, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray ROM. The 15.4″ display in this notebook has a resolution of 1280×800 or 1680×1050 pixels, depending on customer’s choice.

HP Pavilion dv7Hewlett-Packard’s newly designed 17-inch HP Pavilion dv7t Entertainment Notebook PC, based on Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” platform, is now available for purchase.

The HP Pavilion dv7t includes Intel’s Core 2 Duo 45-nanometer processor with clock speeds up to 2.8GHz (depending on CPU model) and Nvidia’s 256MB GeForce 9200M GS or 512MB GeForce 9600M GT dedicated GPUs. The laptop supports up to 4GB of RAM, up to 640GB of hard drive space using two 320GB HDDs, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray optical drive. Its 17″ widescreen display has a resolution of 1440-by-900 or 1680-by-1050 pixels, depending on customer’s choice.

HP Pavilion dv5z Reviewed, Radeon HD 3200 is Amazing

HP Pavilion dv5zNotebookReview has reviewed the latest 15.4-inch consumer notebook from Hewlett-Packard - the HP Pavilion dv5z.

According to NBR, the main advantage of the AMD Puma-based dv5z over its competition is an “amazing integrated graphics performance”. The new ATI Radeon HD 3200 GPU, paired with the AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 processor at 2.1GHz and 2GB of RAM, scored 1,599 3DMark06 points. It’s “roughly three times the performance of the Intel X3100 IGP”, the review says.

HP Pavilion dv5tLaptop Magazine has reviewed recently the HP Pavilion dv5t 15.4-inch laptop PC, which is a part of company’s upcoming Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina“-based enterntainment notebook lineup.

According to the review, the Pavilion dv5t sports a “futuristic-chic” design and fast performance, provided by Intel’s new Core 2 Duo 9000-series 45-nanometer processor. In fact, Laptop Mag claims the dv5t is one of the fastest notebooks they have ever tested.

HP Pavilion tx2500zHewlett-Packard published today details of the HP Pavilion tx2500z Entertainment Notebook PC with a 12.1-inch display that can twist for 180 degrees and supports digital pen input.

The 4.23-pound HP Pavilion tx2500z Tablet PC is based on the latest AMD “Puma” mobile platform with the AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile processor and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics. The tx2500z supports up to 4GB of DDR2 memory. It comes with up to 320GB hard drive and a built-in DVD burner. The display in this Tablet PC has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels.

HP’s Montevina-, Puma-Based Laptops Coming in July

Intel Montevina-Based HP PavilionHP today introduced 16 new notebook PCs for consumers and business users. The newly designed laptop series feature models based on the latest mobile platforms - Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” and AMD “Puma”.

The consumer-oriented laptop lineup includes the HP Pavilion dv4, dv5, and dv7 Entertainment Notebook PCs with the new liquid-metallic HP Imprint 2 surface design, as well as the Compaq Presario CQ45, CQ40 and CQ50 Series. Business customers are going to be offered with 10 new mobile systems, including the ruggedized HP EliteBook, and the redesigned “b”-series and “s”-series.

HP Pavilion dv3000 Unveiled

HP Pavilion dv3000Hewlett Packard has unveiled the HP Pavilion dv3000, the company’s first entertainment notebook PC with a 13.3-inch display.

The dv3000 is based on the Intel Centrino technology. According to the specifications, this laptop is going to be available with Intel’s Core 2 Duo T8100, T8300, T9300, and T9500 45-nanometer processors, as well as with the T5550, T5750, and T7250 65nm CPUs. There are also the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS 256MB video card, up to 4GB of memory, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and “support” for the second HDD and solid state drives. The dv3000 sports a built in optical drive. Its 13.3″ display has 1280-by-800 pixel resolution.

HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist EditionHewlett-Packard has released the HP Pavilion dv2800t Artist Edition notebook series, featuring a design “created by young people, for young people”, and the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology.

The winning design in a six week Global Design Competition created by HP and MTV is displayed on the laptop’s lid, palm rest, and desktop wallpaper in Windows Vista.

HP Pavilion Notebooks Now Configurable with Intel Penryn CPU

HP Pavilion HDXHewlett-Packard’s Pavilion dv2700t, dv6700t, dv9700t and HDX consumer notebooks are now configurable with Intel Core 2 Duo “Penryn” processors, produced using new 45-nanometer technology.

The 14.1-inch dv2700t, 15.4-inch dv6700t, and 17-inch dv9700t ship with the Core 2 Duo Penryn T9300 at 2.50Ghz, with 6MB of L2 cache. These laptops are also available with older Core 2 Duo “Merom” 65nm chips. An upgrade from the basic Core 2 Duo Merom T5450 with 1.67GHz clock speed and 2MB of L2 cache to the T9300 costs $225.

HP Pavilion HDX Now with Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS Option

HP Pavilion HDXHewlett-Packard has updated this week the HP Pavilion HDX entertainment and gaming notebook with a new graphic card option.

The Pavilion HDX, which was available only with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB video card, is now also configurable with the Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS 512MB GPU.
