Leak: AMD to Release C-60 Turbo APU
According to leaked specifications, Advanced Micro Devices will release the netbook- and low-end laptop-use AMD C-60 Accelerated Processing Unit which will add Turbo technology to the APU line.
The C-60 has dual CPU cores clocked at 1GHz by default, but the speed on one of the cores at the time can be increased to 1.33GHz using Turbo, depending on usage. The CPU shares the same die with the new AMD Radeon HD 6290 graphics with 276MHz and 400MHz clock speeds in standard and Turbo mode, respectively. Thermal Design Power of the C-60 remained at the C series standard 9W.
Intel Atom Z670 CPU & Oak Trail Platform for Tablets Officially Released
Intel Corp has officially released the Intel Atom Z670 processor and accompanying “Oak Trail” platform, designed for use in tablets and other mobile computers.
The new CPU and Intel SM35 Express chipset support various 32-bit operating systems, including Windows, Google Chrome, Android, and MeeGo, and enable 1080p playback via incorporated HD video decoder and HDMI output. The Oak Trail platform provides a smaller footprint than previous generations and a lower-power fan-less design for a longer battery life.

2nd Generation Intel Core ‘Sandy Bridge’ Laptop CPUs Launched
Intel officially announced today the 2nd Generation Intel Core “Sandy Bridge” processors, including Core i3, i5, and i7 series for laptops.
The new lineup features dual- and quad-core 32-nanometer chips, which incorporate CPUs, the latest Intel HD graphics processors, and memory controllers on a single die.
Fusion Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) Officially Launched
AMD launched today the Fusion Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) that integrate CPU, graphics processor, HD video decoder, and memory controller in a single die.
The first Fusion APUs are the E-Series “Zacate” units, designed for mainstream notebooks, all-in-one, and small form factor desktop PCs, and the C-Series “Ontario” for HD-capable netbooks and other emerging form factors. “Zacate” and “Ontario” belong to the “Brazos” mobile platform and are built upon “Bobcat” x86 CPU cores.
New AMD Mainstream Laptop Processors Revealed
CPU World has revealed new AMD laptop processors which are apparently a part of 2010 AMD Mainstream Notebook Platform refresh.
The new chips include the V Series V160, Athlon II P360 and N370, Turion II P560 and N570, and Phenom II P650, N660, P860 N870, P960, and N970.
AMD Quietly Launches Athlon II Neo K145 CPU for Thin & Light Laptops
Advanced Micro Devices has quietly launched the AMD Athlon II Neo K145 single-core low-power processor, designed for use in thin-and-light laptops.
As same as the 1.7GHz Athlon II Neo K125, the 1.8GHz K145 belongs to the 2010 AMD Ultrathin Platform. Other features of both processors are apparently indentical and include a power consumption of up to 12W and 1MB of L2 cache.
First Laptops with 2nd Generation Intel Core Processors Spotted
We spotted today a couple of laptops which are apparently based on the Intel’s upcoming 2nd Generation Intel Core processor family, scheduled for release on January 5th, 2011, during the CES Show.
We’ve searched forĀ info on the new AMD Mobility Radeon HD 6550M mobile video card, and incidentally found an Acer Aspire 17.3-inch laptop model which has the Intel Core i7-2630QM (quad-core) processor, besides the 6550M graphics. The same CPU is present in a Gateway model, as well as in a Lenovo’s IdeaPad Y560P notebook.
Intel Atom N550 Reviews, Benchmarks
The Intel Atom N550 is the company’s first dual-core processor for netbook computers.
Besides the dual core N550, the netbook-class Atom N series lineup includes the single core N450, N455, N470 and N475, as well as older N270 and N280. The N550, as same as the N455 and N475, are designed for use with DDR3 memory, instead of old DDR2. The processor runs at 1.5GHz, whereas the single core chips have clock speeds of 1.60, 1.66, or 1.83GHz. However, it doesn’t mean that the N550 is slower in computing tasks.
