ColorWare offered the Lenovo ThinkPad T60p laptops coated with the company’s X2 scratch resistant liquid plastic coating, available in 28 different colors.
With starting price of $2,950, the colored 15.4-inch widescreen Thinkpad T60p notebooks feature Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB of main memory, 100GB SATA hard drive, DVD burner, wireless connection and ATI Mobility Fire GL V5250 graphics.
Lenovo Refreshed T60 and T60p Thinkpad Laptops
Lenovo refreshed its ThinkPad T60 and T60p notebooks with widescreen displays, Intel Core 2 Duo processors and new ATI Mobility Radeon graphics options.
Lenovo ThinkPad T60 now incorporates 15.4-inch WXGA screen with resolution of 1280×800 or WXGA+ 1680×1050 version, both powered by integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The cheapest widescreen ThinkPad T60 costs $1,549 and comes with WXGA, Core 2 Duo T5500 processor, 512 MB of main memory, 40GB hard drive, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG and a DVD-ROM. The widescreen T60 is reported to weight 5.1 pounds, which is “lighter than any comparable notebook from the top five PC vendors”.

Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Tablet PC Introduced
Along with ThinkPad X60 notebooks, Lenovo now offers the 12-inch screen ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC with new MultiView indoor/outdoor anti-reflective/anti-glare display screen with 170° viewing angle and new MultiTouch feature that allows users to move the cursor with their pen or finger. The Lenovo ThinkPad X60 tablets also come equipped with Lenovo’s patent-pending Active Rotate function. With Active Rotate, the screen immediately orients to the user, no matter which direction it turns.
Based on Intel 945 GM chipset, Lenovo Thinkpad X60 comes with Intel’s Low Voltage Core Duo and Ultra Low Voltage Core Solo processors, Graphics Media Accelerator 950, as same as with standard wireless, 56K modem, LAN and optional Bluetooth. Lenovo ThinkPad Laptops with Core 2 Duo Now Available

Lenovo today announced the first ThinkPad laptops using Utimaco security technologies enabling people to encrypt the contents of notebooks hard drive with a single swipe of their finger. Lenovo also announced that T, R, X and Z series Thinkpads are updated with 802.11n wireless technology, allowing users to achieve “faster than wired” connectivity with speeds in excess of 100 mbps. The company also added Intel’s Core 2 Duo Merom processors to its Thinkpad notebooks.
Lenovo and IBM Recalled 168,500 ThinkPad Batteries in the U.S.
Lenovo and IBM, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission today announced the voluntary recall of approximately 526,000 ThinkPad laptop lithium-ion batteries worldwide, of which 168,500 in the United States. The batteries are manufactured by Sony. Lenovo offers free-of-charge replacement batteries for all recalled units. Lenovo has confirmed that these batteries can be subject to overheating, posing a potential fire hazard.

TBR: Customers the Most Satisfied with Lenovo Laptops
Lenovo published this week that it has outperformed top competitors in customer satisfaction with PC hardware quality, reliability and product design features, according to the Technology Business Research (TBR) 2Q 2006.
TBR highlighted in its “Corporate IT Buying Behavior and Customer Satisfaction Study: Notebooks” report Lenovo’s significantly lower laptops PC failure rates than industry averages. The use of Active Protection System, an air-bag like mechanism that protects the hard drive, is found to reduce hard drive failures by 30% as compared to other systems, the reports says. Also it’s highlighted that Lenovo’s customer complaint management was identified as a strong differentiator for its proactive approach to remediate customers’ technology-related concerns, Lenovo published based on the TBR’s research.
SUSE Linux Based Lenovo ThinkPad T60p Officialy Announced
The industry’s first Linux-based Lenovo ThinkPad mobile workstations are officialy announced today. Novell’s recently released SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 operating system will run on the ThinkPad T60p laptop.
The new laptop is aimed at electronics engineers and chip designers. According to press release, the Linux-supported ThinkPad T60p workstation is “a result of a two-year research and development effort between Lenovo, Intel and Novell, allows electronic engineers engaged in integrated circuit and board level design the necessary support solution for numeric intensive applications in any mobile environment”.
Lenovo to Preload SUSE Linux on Thinkpad T60p
Lenovo had made a deal with Novell Inc. to preload SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 operating system (SLED 10) on its ThinkPad T60p mobile workstation. It’s the first time a major OEM (original equipment manufacturer) has committed to preloading a Linux desktop OS, Desktop Linux site reports.
The T60p, featuring 2GHz Intel Core Duo processor with up to 2GB of RAM and an ATI FireGL V5200 256MB graphics card, is expected to come with Lenovo’s “ThinkPad Experience” under Linux, which includes: Access Connections, Configuration Utility, Power Manager, warm and cold docking support for USB and video, and Help Center support.
Lenovo Cut ThinkPad Prices by Up to 33 %
Lenovo recently lowered the price of its ThinkPad laptops in the US, with its X60 model being slashed by 33%, according to the Chinese-language website Sina.com. The ThinkPad X60 is now priced at US$1,399, down from the original price tag of US$2,099, indicated the website.

Just announced Lenovo ThinkPad Z61p is the first mobile workstation of the Lenovo’s Z series platform. The ThinkPad Z61p features 15.4-inch widescreen, Intel Core Duo processor, ATI Mobility Fire GL V5200 (256 MB) graphics chipset and integrated Bluetooth wireless technology. It supports up to 4 GB of the DDR2 memory.
