MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1 Fixes Keyboard Issue
Apple has released MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1, which addresses a keyboard issue on MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system.
“Some MacBook and MacBook Pro systems may occasionally experience a temporary suspension of keyboard input which can last a minute or longer. The Mac OS X 10.5.1 update is required before installing the MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1,” the company says.

Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Officially Released
Apple has just released the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, which brings “more than 300″ new features and some changes over the previous 10.4 Tiger version.
Leopard, which is a 64-bit OS also compatible with 32-bit software, has a brand new desktop with Stacks, a new way to access files from the Dock; a redesigned Finder for browsing and sharing files between multiple Macs; Quick Look, a new way to instantly see files without opening an application; Spaces, used to create groups of applications and instantly switch between them; a data backup software called Time Machine; and a variety of other new features and improvements.

Apple Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Coming on October 26
Apple today announced that its Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard operating system will go on sale Friday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Apple’s retail stores and authorized resellers.
“Leopard is packed with more than 300 new features and introduces a brand new desktop with Stacks, a new way to easily access files from the Dock; a redesigned Finder that lets users quickly browse and share files between multiple Macs; Quick Look, a new way to instantly see files without opening an application; Spaces, an intuitive new feature used to create groups of applications and instantly switch between them; and Time Machine, an effortless way to automatically back up everything on a Mac,” the press relese says.

Apple Unveiled Near-Final Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Apple today unveiled the near-final version of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system at the World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco.
This fully 64-bit OS introduces over 300 new features, according to Apple.

Apple Released Security Update 2007-005 for Mac OS X
Apple has released Security Update 2007-005 for its Mac OS X to fix a number of vulnerabilities in this operating system.
The most serious flaws patched with Update include the CoreGraphics and iChat vulnerabilities, enabling malicious code execution. Other programs fixed by the latest update are Alias Manager, BIND, crontabs, Fetchmail, file, mDNSResponder, PPP, Ruby, GNU Screen, Texinfo and VPN.

Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook and MacBook Pro Released
Apple has released Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops. The patch “updates battery firmware and improves battery functionality” and is released after the company discovered that some batteries used in its notebooks may have battery performance issues. However, if the affected batteries do not work properly after the installed Update, Apple will replace these batteries free of charge.
The factors causing the performance issues do not present a safety risk, so users may continue to use current batteries, according to Apple.
Apple’s Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Launch Delayed to October
Apple will not be able to release its Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system at its Worldwide Developers Conference in early June as planned. Instead, Apple will ship new OS in October, the company officially announced today.
Cupertino based computer maker says the Mac OS X 10.5 launch is delayed, because it had to borrow experts from its operating system team in order to finish software for iPhone on time.

Apple Released Support for Novatel HSDPA, EVDO Cards
Apple has added the software support for the Novatel’s WWAN products to its Mac OS X 10.4.8 based systems, such as MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops. Owners of the Intel-powered Macs are now enabled to use Novatel HSDPA and EVDO wireless modems for Cingular, Sprint and Verizon networks with Apple’s official drivers.
FinancialWire: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Coming Next Month
Apple is set to release its Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system as early as the end of March, FinancialWire reports according to sources.
Apple has declined comment on when the forthcoming OS for Mac computers will be released, the report says.

Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler Patch Coming Next Month
Intel Core 2 Duo processor-based Apple Mac computers, including MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops, incorporate the next generation 802.11n wireless technologies. But, in order to enable it, the customers will have to install “Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler 1.0” patch.
The 802.11n Mac patch will be available starting next month and will cost $4.99, Apple Insider reports.
Mac OS X Security Update 2006-007 Released
Apple released Security Update 2006-007 for Mac OS X 10.3.9 through 10.4.8. The Update is available in Software Update and from Apple Downloads.
Among released Update 2006-007 patches, there is one preventing attackers on the wireless network to cause arbitrary code execution. The issue affects eMac, iBook, iMac, PowerBook G3, PowerBook G4, and Power Mac G4 systems equipped with an original AirPort card. This issue does not affect systems with the AirPort Extreme card.
MacBook SMC Update 1.1 Resolves Random Shutdown Problem
Apple has released the MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.1, that addresses issues with random notebook’s shutdowns and improves the MacBook’s internal monitoring system. Apple recommends this SMC update for all MacBook systems, including those that received warranty repair.
You can use the Software Update feature of System Preferences, or download the MacBook SMC Firmware Update v1.1 from Apple Software Downloads.

Airport Wireless Drivers Vulnerabilities Fixed
Apple issued three software updates to fix three major Airport wireless device drivers vulnerabilities of its Mac products, including Mac laptops. The company said the flaws could be exploited by attackers to compromise a vulnerable system remotely just by having the wireless devices turned on and in range of the attacker.
The first patch fixes the Aiprort flaws in Power Mac, PowerBook, iMac, Mac Pro, Xserve, and PowerPC-based Mac mini computers equipped with wireless. The two other patches are aimed to fix wireless drivers of the Mac mini, MacBook, and MacBook Pro.
