Inspired by iPad’s software, the eighth major release of OS for Mac computers includes the Mac App Store, support for full screen iPad-like apps, Launchpad, a new home for all of Mac apps, and and Mission Control, which “unifies Exposé, Dashboard, Spaces and full screen apps into an innovative new view of everything running on your Mac, and allows you to instantly navigate anywhere.”

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Available for Pre-Order

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow LeopardSnow Leopard, a new version of Apple’s Mac OS X operating system, is available for pre-order at Amazon.com.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, which is expected to hit the market in September, makes Mac computers “faster, more reliable, and easier to use,” according to Apple.

MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1 Fixes Keyboard Issue

MacBook Pro KeyboardApple has released MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1, which addresses a keyboard issue on MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system.

“Some MacBook and MacBook Pro systems may occasionally experience a temporary suspension of keyboard input which can last a minute or longer. The Mac OS X 10.5.1 update is required before installing the MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1,” the company says.

Mac OS X 10.5 LeopardApple has just released the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system, which brings “more than 300″ new features and some changes over the previous 10.4 Tiger version.

Leopard, which is a 64-bit OS also compatible with 32-bit software, has a brand new desktop with Stacks, a new way to access files from the Dock; a redesigned Finder for browsing and sharing files between multiple Macs; Quick Look, a new way to instantly see files without opening an application; Spaces, used to create groups of applications and instantly switch between them; a data backup software called Time Machine; and a variety of other new features and improvements.

Mac OS X 10.5 LeopardApple today announced that its Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard operating system will go on sale Friday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at Apple’s retail stores and authorized resellers.

Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook and MacBook Pro Released

AppleApple has released Battery Update 1.2 for MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops. The patch “updates battery firmware and improves battery functionality” and is released after the company discovered that some batteries used in its notebooks may have battery performance issues. However, if the affected batteries do not work properly after the installed Update, Apple will replace these batteries free of charge.

The factors causing the performance issues do not present a safety risk, so users may continue to use current batteries, according to Apple.

Apple Released Support for Novatel HSDPA, EVDO Cards

Novatel's HSDPA CardApple has added the software support for the Novatel’s WWAN products to its Mac OS X 10.4.8 based systems, such as MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops. Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler Patch Coming Next Month

AppleIntel Core 2 Duo processor-based Apple Mac computers, including MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops, incorporate the next generation 802.11n wireless technologies. But, in order to enable it, the customers will have to install “Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler 1.0” patch.

The 802.11n Mac patch will be available starting next month and will cost $4.99, Apple Insider reports.
