Motorola Lapdock 100 Turns Android Smartphones into Netbooks

Motorola has announced the Lapdock 100, a docking station that can turn Motorola Photon 4G, Atrix 2, and Droid Bionic Android smartphones into netbook-like devices.

The Lapdock 100 comprises of a 10.1-inch 1,366×768 display, a QWERTY keyboard with trackpad, and a built-in battery good for up to 5 hours of dock use and with ability to charge the smartphones. With Motorola Webtop app, the smatrphones in conjunction with the dock provide PC-like multitasking computer experience with support for multiple windows, and with included Firefox web browser, as well as a file manager. The company announced that the dock will be also compatible with some upcoming Webtop-enabled Android smartphones.

Targus Universal Wall Power Adapters for LaptopsThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Comarco Inc, has announced a voluntary recall of around half million Targus Universal Wall Power Adapters for Laptops.

Faulty wiring in the adapters can cause the connector tips to heat and melt the plastic encasing the connector tips, posing a burn hazard to consumers. The company has received 518 incident reports. Eight consumers have reported a finger tip or hand burn.
