Toshiba today announced Wireless UWB Port Replicator for Portege R400 Tablet PCs. It is the world’s first wireless port replicator capable of transferring baseband video, according to Toshiba.

“The integration of Ultra Wide Band (UWB) high-speed wireless technology capable of transmitting digital video wirelessly, allows the Toshiba Wireless UWB Port Replicator to stream baseband video with up to SXGA resolution. This enables users to easily stream unencrypted/uncompressed video, such as home videos, music and video CDs or Internet-based video,” the company’s press release says.

Lenovo and Dell are the first PC makers to release the notebooks with built-in Wireless USB modules. According to the USB Implementers Forum, Lenovo ThinkPad T61/T61p and Dell Inspiron 1720 are among the first six products to pass compliance and certification testing for Certified Wireless USB.

Wireless USB is expected enable computer peripherals and electronics devices, such as printers, external hard drives, mice, keyboards, digital cameras, and MP3 players, to connect to a system without a USB cable. This type of connection is similar to Bluetooth, but with much faster data transfer speeds. Currently, there are products like Wireless USB hubs with adapters, allowing users to place their computer anywhere in a room while still maintaining wireless access to standard USB devices.

Logitech announced today the VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks, which features a very small USB receiver.

“The mouse’s plug-and-forget nano-receiver provides highly mobile notebook PC and MacBook users with a mouse that simplifies life on the road. Because the USB receiver is so small and is nearly flush with the notebook, people no longer need to constantly plug and unplug it when moving from place to place,” Logitech’s press release says.

NotePal infinite cools down multiple heat sources in laptop at once, such as processor, graphics chip, memory modules, optical drives, and hard drives accordingly.

Asustek has announced the Asus T500 3.5G High Speed PC Card, supporting GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, and WCDMA 2100/1900/850 mobile services.

The T500 PC card is able to provide users with 3.6Mbps data download speed, and offers unique phone communication functions for the desktop or laptop PC, according to Asustek.

LapWorks Inc. today announced Laptop Desk Futura. It is a dual-purpose notebook stand, which provides an ergonomic workspace across the lap, and folds into a wedge-shaped stand for desk use.

The Futura retains key design features of other products in Laptop Desk family, such as dual-purpose Laptop Desk 2.0 and Laptop Desk UltraLite, but it additionally offers improved cooling and a “fashion-forward” look.

AMD today introduced the ATI TV Wonder 600 USB external TV card, featuring high-definition television (HDTV) viewing and digital video recording (DVR) capabilities.

Besides the main USB unit, the ATI TV Wonder 600 USB package includes a credit-card-sized infra-red remote controller, and an A/V input adapter for video capture from a camcorder or VCR.

Although it looks like a standard shoulder bag, Quicksilver Workstation forms a unique workspace when unfolded. The bag has compression molded mouse pad and lid, an anti slip laptop surface, and pockets for peripherals storage. It is made of 100% polyaide. This 15 inches tall and 11 1/2 inches wide bag “stretches to accommodate most laptop sizes”.

Logitech today unveiled the QuickCam Pro 9000 and the QuickCam Pro for Notebooks, both featuring lenses designed in a collaboration with Carl Zeiss, one of the world’s leading optics companies.

The new QuickCam Pro-series web cameras incorporate a Carl Zeiss Tessar, “a lens design renowned for delivering superior sharpness while being very light weight and compact”. Another improved feature in new QuickCam Pro cameras is Logitech’s autofocus system, which refocuses images in less than three seconds and helps ensure that images remain crisp even in close-ups (up to 10 cm from the camera lens).

Computer cooling solution provider Evercool has released the Magic NB-MA1 Notebook Cooler, “the world’s first patented air extracting fan for laptops”.

The Magic NB-MA1 allows quick extraction of the hot air, which stabilizes the operation of the notebook and prolongs its lifetime, according to Evercool. It comes with a universal clip making it compatible with major laptop brands and can rotate up to 180 degrees to adjust the angle.

Logitech today introduced its Kinetik 15.4 Backpack and Kinetik 15.4 Briefcase for notebook computers.

The Kinetik backpack and briefcase feature an exo-shell casing, which helps protect the laptop from damage, and a contoured back panel, which conforms to the back. These cases, made from lightweight and durable materials, provide bays for devices, as well as easy access to the laptop and other equipment, the computer accessories maker says.

Logitech has expanded its Alto line of notebook stands with the new Alto Connect and Alto Express.

The X-shaped Logitech Alto Connect laptop stand incorporates four-port USB hub. One of the ports is located at the front of the stand for easy access when plugging in a device such as an MP3 player or thumb drive. Alto Connect also offers a cable-management system and a cavern for storing the USB cable when not in use. The new stand is compatible with any notebook PC, as well as with MacBook and MacBook Pro computers.

Pinnacle Systems has announced the retail availability of Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick, the sub-$100 USB TV tuner for watching high definition TV on laptop and desktop computers.

Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick enables HDTV watching via ATSC, which is the new digital TV standard. The ATSC comes over-the-air and for free in high or standard definition, with no required subscription fees. In addition, Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick supports standard analog TV (NTSC) via cable or antenna. Kensington has announced today 26 new notebook and desktop computer accessories products. For laptops, there are two new notebook mice, four power adapters, and three security locks.

The released Kensington Ci75m Wireless Notebook Mouse (SKUs K72278US and K72288US) connects to a laptop via USB port, while the Kensington Ci85m QuickStart Wireless Notebook Mouse (SKU K72287US) uses the ExpressCard slot. These mice are priced at $34.99 and $39.99 respectively.
