Sony VAIO VGN-FE790 Configurable with Merom

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Sony VAIO VGN-FE790 CTOSony VAIO VGN-FE790 CTO, the first customizable notebook in FE series which can be configured with new Intel Core 2 Duo processor, is now available at SonyStyle.com. The VGN-FE790 CTO (configure-to-order) comes with one of five Core 2 Duo Mobile (Merom) processors, by your choice.

The 15.4-inch widescreen Vaio VGN-FE790 features Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 or optional NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 128MB graphics card for additional $75. But, if you purchase the laptop with NVIDIA’s card you must also add $50 for the screen with XBRITE-HiColor Technology and MOTION EYE Camera, since the GeForce Go 7600 is selectable only with that upgraded screen. The laptop is based on Intel 945GM chipset (when you select Intel’s integrated graphics) and Intel 945PM Chipset (when you select NVIDIAs dedicated graphics). We suppose that there will be also VGN-FE790 featuring GeForce Go 7400 with TurboCache supporting 256MB available, since this option is listed in notebook’s specifications. But, the specs sheet says: “Gray model only available with Go 7400 Graphics option”.
