Sony VAIO F Series 2D 3D 2011Sony has released the VAIO F series 16.4-inch higher-end entertainment notebook for 2011, featuring the 2nd Generation Intel Core processors, optional 3D capability, and a new design.

The updated Sony VAIO F (VPCF2000X series) comes with the quad-core Core i7-2630QM, i7-2720QM, or i7-2820QM processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and an up to 640GB hard drive or 512GB solid state drive. The 3D F Series comes with Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology, the Nvidia GeForce GT 540M 1GB dedicated video card and a Blu-ray player or burner, while the 2D version additionally provides GeForce GT 520M 512MB and DVD burner options, but lacks 3D Vision.

The VAIO S (VPCS1390X) features the 1st generation of Intel Core processors, up to the Core i5-580M, Intel GMA HD integrated graphics or the Nvidia GeForce 310M 512MB dedicated video card, up to 4GB of RAM, up to a 500GB hard drive or 256GB solid state drive, a DVD burner or Blu-ray combo or Blu-ray burner, 1366×768 LED-backlight display, “up to 5.5 hours” of battery life with the standard battery, and Windows 7 OS.

Sony Launches Best Buy Blue Label VAIO VPCS131FM/S

Sony VAIO VPCS131FM-SSony has refreshed Best Buy’s exclusive Blue Label VAIO S 13.3-inch laptop line, adding the new VAIO VPCS131FM/S model.

The Sony VAIO VPCS131FM/S has a faster processor and more storage capacity than its VPCS111FM/S precursor, as well as WiMAX capability and a longer battery life. The new model includes the Intel Core i5-460M CPU at 2.53GHz, a 640GB hard drive and a claimed battery life of “up to 5 hours and 30 minutes”, whereas the old VAIO S has the 2.26GHz i5-430M, a 500GB HDD and 5-hour run time. Both laptops feature the Intel GMA HD integrated graphics, Intel Wireless Display technology that wirelessly transmits video from the laptop to a TV, 4GB RAM, a DVD burner, 1366 x 768 LED-backlight screen, Windows 7 Home Premium OS, and a silver chassis.
