Clevo has finalized a major motherboard revision for the Clevo D901C 17-inch laptop. The motherboard version 4.x will be updated to version 5.1a, which will officially support Intel’s G0-stepping Quad Core processors.
These G0 Quad Core CPUs – the Q6700 and Q6600 desktop-use models – are already offered in the Clevo D900C-based laptops by XtremeNotebooks, Eurocom, and Pioneer Computers. However, some laptop vendors, such as Sager and ProStar, claim that these processors can cause system failure if used long term in the D900C and that Clevo has not approved any quad-core CPUs for use inside the D900C notebook.
The United States based Sager will offer the refreshed Clevo’s D901C as the NP9261 notebook, with quad-core option officially supported by both laptop vendor and manufacturer.
Sager will begin taking preorders for the NP9261 on September 20th.
