Compal, an original design manufacturer (ODM), has unveiled the new barebone laptop lineup, which is based on Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” mobile platform.
The new models include the 15.4-inch JHL90 and JHL91, and the 14.1-inch JHT00 and JHT01. The JHL90 comes with the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT video card, while the smaller JHT00 has the GeForce 9300M GS GPU. The other two notebooks – JHL91 and JHT01 – feature Intel’s GMA X4500 HD integrated graphics.
Compal’s Centrino 2 systems support Intel “Penryn” processors with a 1066MHz front side bus, which is up from 800MHz in current Centrino 1. The laptops support up to 4GB of system memory, the Intel Turbo Memory 2.0 module, 802.11a, b, g, and draft n wireless standards, and WiMAX. They also have built-in web cameras and optical drives.
As same as other barebones from ODM companies, Compal’s “Montevina”-based notebooks will be sold as rebranded configurable or preconfigured systems.
There is no information on availability and pricing.
