Dell’s Adamo, a stylish ultra-slim laptop, is now available for preorder.
The 4-pound Adamo features a 0.65-inch profile, aluminum chassis, a 13.4-inch 1366×768-pixel display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and LED backlight, Intel’s ultra-low voltage CPU, Intel GS45 integrated graphics, and a 128GB solid state drive with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit preinstalled.
The laptop is available in two versions - the Adamo Admire and Adamo Desire.
The Admire, priced at $1,999, is powered by the Core 2 Duo SU9300 CPU at 1.2GHz and comes with 2GB of DDR3 memory, whereas the $2,699 Desire includes the SU9400 at 1.4GHz and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. In addition, the Desire sports an HSPA Mini Card for AT&T mobile broadband network.
Other Adamo’s features include 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet LAN connections, a 1.3MP web camera, a full-size keyboard with back-lighting, a Display Port, two USB ports and an additional USB/eSATA combo port. Users can also get a separately sold external optical drive.
According to the product description at adamobydell.com, the notebook provides “more than 5 hours” of battery life on a full charge with its 40 WHr Lithium Polymer unit.
The Adamo comes in two colors: Onyx and Pearl.
The laptop will ship worldwide starting March 26, 2009. It can be purchased through Dell.com.

There is much potential with the Adamo, I’m personally looking forward to it. Not much has been released as of yet; but given Dell’s history with keeping their ’secret projects’ secret i give it a few months before we know some specs on it other than, “it will combat the Macbook Air.”
Is this the best Dell can do after months of teasing?
I was expecting at least a 1.8GHz CPU (Intel’s LV, not ULV class) and better battery life.
It’s still hampered by Vista either way. Hope Dell at least has the sense to make sure the hardware is 100% Linux compatible.
Looks good, though… better than the MacBook Air.
