Dell is now offering the Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX upgrade kit for existing XPS M1730 customers who have configured their notebooks with lower-performance GPUs, such as the 8700M GT.
The video card can be purchased from Dell.com, either as a stand-alone part, or with an installation service for users that don’t want to install the GPU themselves. For customers that want to do it temselves, Dell has provided a service manual, as well as a how-to video.
The stand-alone 8800M GTX SLI (dual) kit, with 1GB of GDDR3 memory, is priced at $1,099.99. The same product with the installation service costs $1,218.99.
Accroding to a post at Direct2Dell blog, the Dual GeForce 8800M GTX boosts performance over the older Dual 8700M GT cards by up to 49%.
