Dell has expanded its Ubuntu Linux OS-powered notebook PC line with the new Inspiron 1525N.
Customers who purchase the 1525N can choose a 30-day support for Ubuntu beginners, 1-year basic Ubuntu support, or 1-year standard support, for additional $65, $125, and $275 respectively.
Regarding hardware, the 15.4-inch Inspiron 1525N is based on Intel’s Centrino technology with the Core 2 Duo processor and Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. The laptop supports up to 4GB of system memory, and comes with up to 250GB hard drive capacity, as well as with a DVD burner.
Ubuntu is currently the most popular Linux distribution among PC users. It is free of charge and provides a variety of free software such as OpenOffice suite, image editing, multimedia and communications applications, etc.
Ubuntu is already offered on Dell’s Inspiron 1420N and XPS 1330 notebooks, as well as on the Inspiron 530N desktop PC.
