Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 Overview

Dell Inspiron 15R 5520

The Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 is the newest version of the company’s 15.6-inch mainstream notebook for consumers.

The successor of the 15R 5510 comes with a completely overhauled design and new processor options, but the switchable lid is still present, allowing users to change display panel’s rear size to their liking with various lid design choices available. What’s also new is presence of USB 3.0 technology. The notebook has a rounded appearance and it somewhat resembles the design of the premium-class XPS laptops. However, the Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 is still only a budget notebook made of plastics and without a dedicated video card option. But, it does look nice, at least on the Dell’s product pages. We have noticed that the keyboard appears to be identical to the one used on the previous model.

The laptop is currently offered with both 2nd “Sandy Bridge” and 3rd “Ivy Bridge” Generation Intel Core processors, namely the dual-core i3-2370M, dual-core i5-3210M, and i7-3612QM with four cores. RAM amount choices are 6 and 8 Gigabytes, while for data storage customers can have up to 1 Terabyte of capacity.

The 15.6″ 1366×768 display is True-Life, which means glossy.

The standard-sized 15R 5520, measuring 1.34″ in profile and weighing about six pounds, has enough room to accommodate a DVD burner or optionally Blu-ray player or writer. The camera has a 1MP sensor, the speakers are stereo, and there’s an HDMI port besides four USB 3.0 connectors.

You can purchase the notebook now via the manufacturer’s website, but it is also expected to hit the shelves of various retailers soon. The starting price is $549.

The Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 is a kind of an important notebook model, since its 15.6″ inexpensive class is the best selling on the market and Dell is still one of the biggest notebook vendors, despite a decline of their market share.
