Dell Inspiron E1501Dell Inspiron E1501 is a laptop with the same basic design and build as Dell’s popular 15.4-inch widescreen E1505 notebook. But, inside these laptops there is a big difference: unlike Intel-based E1505, the Inspiron E1501 is powered by AMD’s Sempron, Turion or Turion X2 processor and ATI graphics. The recent NotebookReview’s and Laptop Magazine’s reviews say the Dell Inspron E1505 is better choice, although E1501 is slightly cheaper.

Dell Inspiron 1501 Review
The Inspiron 1501 is a fine basic mainstream notebook: the build is good, the screen is nice, and the price is pretty decent. But it’s hardly an exciting notebook, looks or feature wise. It’s a shame Dell took the e1505 offering, watered it down feature wise, and then offered the AMD processor selection for it. Without dedicated graphics, a lack of media buttons, no FireWire and no S-Video Dell has done it’s job to seperate this from the “e” (for entertainment) series. It’s clearly not their premium offering. But strangely, the price of the 1501 isn’t much cheaper than the e1505 Intel powered notebook. I can only say anyone considering the Inspiron 1501 should make sure to check out the Inspiron e1505 as well, it’s probably going to give you more bang for the buck and be only slightly more expensive.

LAPTOP Magazine - Dell Inspiron 1501 Review
Although the Dell Inspiron 1501 demonstrated stronger wireless performance than the Dell Inspiron E1505 and has a lower price point, we can’t recommend the notebook over its far more functional predecessor. If you’re looking for a decent machine that won’t break the bank, it’s worth a look. Just remember, you get exactly what you pay for.

Gerald Van Lare Says:

I recently purchased a brand new E1501 for a price of 600 dollars on Ebay. I got the vista priemium upgrade for the price of $10.70 . Yes I know it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles the E1505 has but if your going to play older games online Tiger Woods 2006; Delta Force Black Hawk Down. Rise of Nations Just to name a few and not have any problems doing so on dial up and not have too many problems I think it was a pretty good buy. The cheapest I have seen the E1505 is about 800 dolars. If you are on a budget the E1501 is the best choice. Also I have the AMD 1.8 single core 3500 semperon Maybe having all the bells and whistles is nice but I like when something is simple and fits my budget. To each his own.
